Here is some interesting information on the WWE Network.
• Quite a lot of pay-per-views are actually the VHS edits. For example, a lot of WWE pay-per-views are the Collesum Home Video release versions. Similarly, some WCW pay-per-views are the Turner Home Entertainment VHS edits.
• It appears that Martha Hart did NOT make an agreement with WWE to show footage of her husband Owen Hart on the Network. It was Owen himself who gave permission. Martha banned the WWE from featuring Owen’s image in any new productions or merchandise after his death in 1999. However, despite being an on-demand channel, it still counts as a broadcast channel. So any of Owen shown on the Network is considered a “repeat broadcastâ€. Owen’s contracts permit the WWE to use his image in repeat broadcasts. This is a very common stipulation in WWE performer contracts. The McMahon family wanted to make sure that Martha Hart understood before going ahead with using his footage.
• Nudity has been edited out of shows. The most commonly reported example is The Kat exposing her breasts at WWF Armageddon 1999. This is likely because of WWE’s overall PG product.
• ‘WWF One Night Only 1997’ and ‘WCW Hallowe’en Havoc 1990’ have both been cut down from 3 hours to just 2 hours.
• There is only one New Jack match available on the Network. This is strange because the WWE recently rated New Jack the #2 performer who never competed in WWE (after Sting).
• Similarly, New Jack’s run-in at ‘ECW Heat Wave 1999’ has been removed. All of his other run-ins remain.
• Most songs written by Jimmy Hart have been removed. This includes some songs that WWE always legally owned the rights too.
• The footage of a fan entering the ring to try and attack Hulk Hogan at ‘WCW Bash At The Beach 1996’ has been removed.
• A lot of shows still have “WWF†references blurred out.
