Deadpool

It's been a while since i wrote one of these, hope i'm not too rusty.

Before the movie :

I don't have a hugely extended knowledge about the character (as always with comic books movies, I don't read comic books) but from what i know i thought something great could be done with this character, then came the leaked footage and i was sold. The whole marketing campaign was great and my expectations for this movie were really high, if i didn't laugh my ass off, the movie would be a failure for me. I decided to go see it earlier tonight with a friend.

Movie Plot :

Wade Wilson is a former military turned mercenary, he meets an escort girl in the bar he and other mercs usually go and starts to go out with her, they end up making a perfect couple until the day Wade proposes to her right before passing out. Wade is diagnosed with terminal cancer and doesn't know what to do.

One night, Wade goes to the bar and is informed that a man asked for him, it is a recruiter for a secret program and informs Wade that he could cure his cancer and give him powers, Wade denies at first but left with no other options, he finally accepts.

The cure isn't what he expected and Wade ends up going head to head against Ajax, the man who was experimenting on him. The cure left Wade disfigured so he tries to find Ajax back because he is supposed to be the only one able to fix Wade.

My impressions :

+ Reynolds seemed to enjoy this so much, it's leaking through the screen and it feels great to see after all the time he spent pushing to make this movie. Also, the couple he makes with Morena Baccarin is really cute and instantly makes these characters likeable.
+ The action is great, funny, a bit bloody.
+ Treating the whole cancer thing seriously, it would have been easy to have Wade brush it off with a few jokes but i'm glad they didn't do that.
+ Funny, a lot of references to various things, including Reynolds past failures as a superhero.
+ Breaking the 4th wall but not over using it.
+ The relation Wade has with some characters : Colossus, Weasel, Blind Al and Dopinder

- Teenage Negasonic Warhead, her power is cool but i didn't find the character likeable nor dislikeable, she's there to be a function when needed.

To conclude, i had a blast watching Deadpool, I loved the action, the jokes, most of the characters, it was fun and entertaining but not dumb so all i could say is definitely check it out !
I can't wait to get a sequel

Teenage Negasonic Warhead was a RIOT to me because I'm a teenager and I see hundreds of her's a day. I agree with everything else said in this post though.
