* Many parts of this year’s Royal Rumble match were call backs to previous Rumbles. D-Von Dudley holds the record for most matches at the show without actually competing in the Rumble itself. All of those matches have been tag team matches in which he teamed with Bubba Ray Dudley. Bubba Ray co-held the record until this year. Also, Ray entered the match at #3, a call-back to when Daniel Puder was the surprise entrant at that entry number. Ray scored the first elimination, even though #3 is normally the first to be eliminated. Eventual winner Roman Reigns entered in the “middle 10†because the fewest Rumble winners have had such a number. Reigns repeated a previous Triple H spot in which he eliminated Kane and Big Show simultaneously. He eliminated exactly 6 people, as this is the single-match record for a Rumble winner. He was declared the winner while another active participant was outside of the ring, which also happened when Alberto Del Rio won the Rumble. Kofi Kingston being eliminated so soon after his near-elimination was meant to troll internet fans who mock his near-elimination recoveries but never wins.
* Another reason why Bubba Ray Dudley was in the Royal Rumble was because the event was in Philadelphia, the home of the original ECW. Dudley was entered into the match because he was in the original ECW, but never competed in the WWE brand. In contrast, The Boogeyman was added to the Rumble because he was on the ECW brand, but never competed in the original ECW.
* Diamond Dallas Page became the first person to enter the Royal Rumble at the “cursed†#14 spot twice, and paid the price for it. A few months after his first Rumble in 2002, Page suffered a concussion and a broken neck during a match against Hardcore Holly. The injuries forced him to retire from WWE and nearly ended his career. A few days after this year’s Rumble, he was rushed to hospital after suffering heart complications caused by pushing himself too hard in the match.
* Kane now officially holds the records for most Royal Rumble appearances and most overall eliminations.
* Statistically, Roman Reigns is already one of the greatest Royal Rumble performers of all time. He came second in his first attempt, and won in his second, eliminating 18 people in both years (ave. 9 per match).
* WrestleMania 31 featured the first time that someone cashed in his ‘Money In The Bank’ contract during an active match, or to include himself in a previously scheduled match. As a result, it became the second WrestleMania in a row in which someone won a 3-way match to become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion, despite being in another match earlier that night.
* WrestleMania 31 featured the first time that 2 different title match cash-ins happened at the same show. When Rollins cashed in his MITB contract, Reigns was already taking advantage of his Royal Rumble prize.
* Sting has lost his only WWE match so far. However, his opponent Triple H still holds the record for most losses at WM.
* Contrary to WWE’s claims, the ‘Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal’ was NOT the first time Big Show won a battle royal. He was the sole winner of a televised battle royal in 2006.
* Goldust is lucky that the ‘Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal’ was moved to the pre-show. If it was on the main WrestleMania card, he would have set a new record for losses at WM without scoring a single win.
* Also, the Big Show famously has one of the worst win-loss records in WrestleMania history. If the Battle Royal was on the main WM card, he would have officially had more WM wins than The Rock.
* WrestleMania 31 was only the third PPV since WM25 that had a WWE Championship match that did not involve John Cena, Randy Orton or CM Punk.
* WrestleMania XX ended with Chris Benoit winning a major title in a 3-way match, while WrestleMania 21 opened with Benoit in a 6-way ladder match. Similarly,
WrestleMania XXX ended with Daniel Bryan winning a major title in a 3-way match, while WrestleMania 31 opened with Bryan in a 7-way ladder match.
* When Dean Ambrose beat Luke Harper at Extreme Rules, it was Ambrose’s first win at a PPV since the Shield broke up nearly a year earlier.
* Charlotte became the first former NXT Women’s Champion to be called up to the main WWE roster after losing the title. Both Paige and Sasha Banks were still champion when they got called up.
*Every former NXT Champion has graduated to the main roster, except Sami Zayn.
* Xavier Woods has held the WWE and TNA Tag Team Championships without officially winning them himself. After Big E and Kofi Kingston won the WWE Tag Team Championship, Woods was recognised as a co-champion under the Freebird Rule. When Woods made his TNA Wrestling debut, he defended the TNA Tag Team Championship with R-Truth on behalf of Adam Jones. Jones was not actually allowed to compete due to his NFL contract forbidding it.
* King Barrett is the third consecutive King of the Ring to be from the British Isles. The previous winner was Sheamus, who is from Dublin, Ireland. Before him was William Regal, who is from England.
* R-Truth has been eliminated first in all 4 of his Elimination Chamber matches.
* The Prime Time Players (Darren Young & Titus O’Neal) defeated the New Day (Big E & Kofi Kingston) to win the WWE Tag Team Championship at Money In The Bank 2015. This was the very first time that a WWE PPV title match featured only African American participants. The closest before that was when Booker T lost the WCW Championship to The Rock (who is half-Samoan, half-African Canadian) at SummerSlam 2001.
* When Blake & Murphy won the NXT Tag Team Championship, Buddy Murphy became the first person from the Austrailian continent to hold any title in the WWE.
