Kaval released
Written: December 23, 2010

World Wrestling Entertainment has come to terms on the release of WWE SmackDown Superstar
Kaval (Brandon Silvestry) as of today, December 23, 2010. We wish Kaval the best in all future endeavors.
Quote:

- The word in WWE is that Kaval (known as Low Ki on the independents circuit) was released because the company didn't have any plans for him, and as such it was an amicable departure by the winner of NXT Season 2.

It's unlikely Kaval will be working for any nationally televised companies any time soon due to the typical 90 day no-compete clause.

The high flyer was signed by World Wrestling Entertainment in 2008 and spent a lot of time in WWE developemental before he was brought up to NXT.
WWE is stupid :( I really want to see Daniel Bryan vs Kaval at wrestlemania but.....

That's just silly, it seems to me that vince wants to take control over a person's character as he did with others that came and left THEN vince owns THAT character, I'l glad he saw this and didn't go there as his regular in ring name and vince couldn't own that aswell.

Was I the only one who noticed the crowd on Smackdown chanting 'Low-Ki' last week? I guess Vince gets scared when a guy can make a rep without him.

Good, WWE has no idea how to use smaller guys. LOW-KI! :B-)

This is horseshit! Apparently he wanted to leave due to his work schedule, so its not really WWE's fault as they tried to convince him to stay. If he goes to TNA he will be wasted, so its either japan or ROH for him. Shame really as he was doing a good job and along the mid-card mix.

Actually, bro, courtesy of PWtorch:

There are a few contributing factors that led to Kaval's release, which caught wrestlers off-guard when it was announced on Thursday. Politics and perceived attitude issues are the two most-cited reasons for Kaval's release according to sources with knowledge of the situation.

"There's never an honest reason the office will give," says a former WWE wrestler. "If a guy doesn't have 'main event look,' he has no chance within the time period they gave Kaval."

Kaval's release can also be attributed to WWE's revolving door of mid-card talent. WWE typically has a three-year time period for mid-card wrestlers before they are replaced.

Wrestlers released by WWE in 2010 include veterans with over five years of WWE TV exposure, but with recent "re-starts" to their characters, and wrestlers who were within a three-year time frame on TV and did not advance up the ladder.

The list of over 20 wrestlers on the main roster cut by WWE in 2010 breaks down as follows.

Short-term: Kaval, Vance Archer, Paul Burchill, Mike Knox, Luke Gallows, Caylen Croft, Eric Escobar, Slam Master J (as his most-recent gimmick), Katie Lea Burchill, Savannah, and Tiffany.

Veterans: MVP, Hurricane Helms, Matt Hardy, Carlito, Charlie Haas, Shad Gaspard, Shelton Benjamin, Jimmy Wang, Funaki, Maria, Mickie James, and Jillian Hall.

A few years ago, MVP was considered a "sure-fire future main eventer" along with Mr. Kennedy (Mr. Anderson in TNA), Bobby Lashley, and Kozlov. Over time, those wrestlers were phased out or, in the case of Kozlov, reduced to his current mid-card comedy role.

WWE's new slate of "sure-fire future main eventers" include Alberto Del Rio, Jack Swagger, Sheamus, and Wade Barrett. It remains to be seen which wrestlers will remain on-course for a permanent seat at the main event table and which ones will fade out after sudden rises.

This current phase of mid-card wrestlers coming through the revolving door began five-to-six years ago. July 2005 is considered the start of the cycle when 17 wrestlers were released on one day.

Since and including "Black Friday" in July 2005, WWE has gone through annual "spring" and "fall" cleanings while also making regular cuts. The result is over 135 wrestlers have been released from July 2005 to December 2010.
