It is being reported that the SmackDown taping went so badly that Vince McMahon himself had to address the crowd.
Every show on the UK tour has received a poor reception, but the crowd at the SmackDown taping was said to be the worst yet. Vince McMahon cut an unscripted heel promo on the crowd, demanding that they "Have some fun, damn it!". While WWE staff are blaming the crowd for being un-supportive, fans are saying that the production was genuinely poor. This led to them booing every single match, segment and performer.
We reported last week that the WWE Network was cancelled in the UK just minutes before it was due to launch. McMahon did release a public apology, but did not explain why this had happened or when the Network would be launched. This has led to fans at all of the UK shows chanting "Where's our Network?".
But there was other avoidable problems too. Each of the shows did not feature some of the advertised talent. Not only that, but there had been a lot of huge gaps in between matches and far too many in-ring promos. The Raw taping in Liverpool, England, promised at least 12 Superstars and Divas that did not appear at the event. All of them were involved with a live promotional event elsewhere in the country. The WWE heavily edited out crowd reactions during Raw, and are doing the same for the Smackdown broadcast.
Vince's promo will not be broadcast on this week's show. But expect fan videos to be uploaded soon.
