As has been heavily publicised, this year’s Survivor Series marks the 25th anniversary of the Undertaker in the WWE. He made his official debut at the event in 1990 and has been on the active roster since. Only Vince McMahon has been with the company longer without interruption.

The Rock, Dean Ambrose, Kurt Angle, Roman Reigns, Earthquake, Seth Rollins, Sting and the Gobbledy Gooker have all made their official WWE debuts at the show.

The first non-tag team match at Survivor Series was the WWF Championship match between Undertaker and defending champion Hulk Hogan in 1991.

When Undertaker won the WWF Championship in 1991, he set a number of records. He became the first person to win a title at Survivor Series, as well as the first person to win the WWF Championship in the month of November. He is also the first champion to not have a surname. At that time, he set the records for being the youngest champion, and the shortest time between official debut and winning the title.

This year will be the second time Survivor Series hosted a tournament for the vacant WWE Championship. The 1998 pay-per-view centred mainly round the Deadly Game tournament.

Ultimate Warrior has never lost at Survivor Series. He was one of the sole survivors in all 4 of his matches across 3 pay-per-views.

Roman Reigns holds the record for the most eliminations in a single traditional Survivor Series tag team match. He sent 4 opponents back to the locker room in 2013.

Randy Orton currently holds the all-time record for eliminations, putting 13 opponents out of the matches. He is also tied for longest winning streak having won 3 consecutive years in a row, just like Hulk Hogan and Ultimate Warrior did.

To date, there has only been 2 Survivor Series which did not feature at least one traditional Survivor Series tag team match. These were 1998 and 2002.

The first four Survivor Series pay-per-views were held on Thanksgiving night (Thursdays).
The next four were on the evening before (Wednesdays). The PPV moved to Sunday in 1995 and has been on a Sunday ever since.

The Survivor Series PPV was officially cancelled in 2010, but returned due to huge fan demand. The PPV is the second longest running in wrestling history with this year being the 28th show.

In 1990, all of the sole survivors in the mid-card matches competed in the main event.
The most uneven traditional Survivor Series match was 4 vs 1. Team Bossman (Big Bossman, Prince Albert, Mideon & Viscera) all lost to Big Show.

Bad News Brown walked out on his teammates both years that he competed at Survivor Series.

It is generally accepted that Mike Knox has the shortest survival time of any traditional Survivor Series tag team match.

The biggest elimination happened in 1994 when all 5 members of The Teamsters got counted out at the same time. A few minutes earlier, the British Bulldog was also eliminated by count out, making 6 men to be counted out in the one match.

Only 1 traditional Survivor Series tag team match did not end with a clear winner. In 1996, Faarooq, Vader, Razor Ramon, Flash Funk, Jimmy Snuka and Yokozuna were all disqualified simultaneously, thus eliminating both teams.

After the Montreal Screwjob in 1997, it has been traditional for there to be a “screw job” finish in at least one of the main events every year since. In 1998, they re-enacted the Montreal Screwjob with The Rock and Mankind. In 1999, Vince McMahon attacked Triple H and counted the final pin himself. In 2000, the Undertaker was almost declared the new champion when he pinned Kurt Angle’s brother, who was not an active talent.

To mark the 5th anniversary of the Montreal Screwjob, every match at the 2002 Survivor Series had a screw job ending, except for the main event.

The largest traditional Survivor Series tag team matches featured 20 men, with 10 per team. This featured at both of the first 2 Survivor Series events. A unique twist was that whenever an individual was eliminated, his usual tag team partner would be automatically eliminated too.

Even though the PPV has always been in November, Santa Claus has made an appearance twice.

Paul Heyman was displeased with a 2008 story line. One of the advertised matches was Triple H defending the WWE Championship against Jeff Hardy and Vladimir Kozlov in a triple threat match. But on the day of the pay-per-view, the WWE announced on their website that Hardy was not able to compete after being attacked that day. The attack was purely storyline, but Heyman objected to the WWE reporting it on the website as if it was for real.

Several superstars were left disappointed when management refused to change the 2011 main event. Prior to the show, two superstars earned Wellness Policy violations, but only one got suspended. It was well noted that the other violator was due to compete in the main event. R-Truth’s suspension began two days after the show.
