Being that now people can make mods that you pay for on Steam, I suspect that WWE2K15 will be affected by this.
Especially all the people who are modding this game

This means that now in order to play some wrestling mods, we have to start buying them. That sucks because I never heard of paying for a mod and it sounds ridiculous. Also if you do consider making buy able mods(oh god), Steam will have 75% of what you make. I'm just wondering if this will effect the way we play mods(2/3 of this forum is modding, consider that)

TL:DR No more free mods for you

Damn that's stupid, I can already imagine some half-assed mods being made there just to get a few cents.
The whole point of modding was to build a community around a hobby we share and now some people are going to try to turn this into "easy money".

When it comes to 2k15 modding i don't know how laws work exactly but i think it might be a little complicated for people to sell it :

- let's say for example you mod an item for Skyrim, like a sword or whatever, it's your creation so no problem.
- If you mod a wrestler there's a lot of rights to it i guess, the company might own the gimmick, you use someone's likeness and some copyrighted designs (like Punk's pepsi and G.I Joe Cobra tattoos) so it might not be that simple to sell such mod.

There is also the question of the company who made the game, some (like CD Project for exemple) give an SDK and encourage people to mod their game, but some companies don't even want to hear about their game being modded, so would they allow selling of mods for these games ? I don't think so.

I think/hope this thing is going to hit a wall and fall flat because i don't like that idea at all.
Or we can turn OSR into a multinational corporation specialised in wrestling game mods and have them dollars rain for us all. :yes!

But seriously, paying for mods is stupid.

True. I think the 2k games are fun, but they have the same problem all the smackdown games have had: AI that doesn't do anything but sit there and get beat up.

And this is why I will stick with modding 2K15 like I have been and other wrestling games on the 360.
I refuse to pay for a mod for any game.

I think this is being misunderstood-some people will charge for mods. Which is alright, people can do whatever they want. If you don't like it, don't buy it; for every one mod that is not free, there will be hundreds that are.

Liking it or not is not the point, no one should charge someone else for a mod period, simply because they are modding something that actually isn't theirs to sell. Trying to make money off of someone else's work is wrong period.

i should point out atm it is only skyrim modding, and the developer has to agree to it, with that said i disagree with paid for mods, as i feel mods are for fun and are mad for the exact same reasons as they are played to have fun, i know i enjoy the feeling of seeing my creation in game and then I'm even more happy when someone else gets enjoyment out of the mods i create and that imo if the ethos of modding :)

I get that, but some of the most popular games were mods first, like Counterstrike, DOTA, and Garry's Mod.

If there's a sufficient demand and quality behind it(X amount of hard work went into modifying it), I don't see the problem.

Sure some mods are great but it's debatable if you really have to pay for that cool mod you wanted to use.

Really, modifying a game should not be payable.

Also baal666 was right, it did hit a wall, because it would cause too many problems for people

As excited as I am, I need to be patient. I am considering buying this game when it's cheaper..but I have it through..other means.

Anyone figure out how to add custom textures without going through community creations? Or intergender matches?

I just got it for pc and have to say it is amazing.I'm so excited to mod this but have never modded any smackdown games so I have a lot of reading and tutorials to track down.I just want to extract textures and play with them for now.
Sucks they lied about dlc though.

The only thing I dislike is the choppy framerate and how taxing the density of the crowd affects the frame rate. Played it on my friend who has a similar computer as me.

Looks like I'll stick to svr2010 modding
