Here is an update on the recent Eva Marie and Rey Mysterio rumours.
We previously reported that Eva Marie would be taking over as the permanent host of the WWE Hall Of Fame ceremonies. This report has been confirmed as false, but it WAS true for a day. Actual wrestling legend and Hall of Famer Jerry 'The King' Lawler has been hosting the event for years. It was announced even as late as Tuesday that Lawler would be hosting the ceremony again. What was not announced was plans to have Eva Marie co-host the event with Lawler. The idea was to make the HoF ceremony seem more like the Oscars, which has a male and a female host by tradition. Eva would then take over from Lawler starting next year. There is no mention as to whether or not she would have another legend co-hosting in future years. The story leaked online somehow and the WWE has noticed the upset that this had caused. But it remains to be seen if plans have changed or not. Eva Marie will still be involved with the HoF somehow as every diva is normally present. They would escort legends to the podium.
Another rumour is that Rey Mysterio announced his retirement. This goes back to a misunderstood tweet he made last week. After the in-ring death of his opponent and friend Perro Aguayo, Jr. The comments were in Spanish. When translated in Google, one of the words translated as "retirement". This was wrongly construed as Mysterio was planning to retire from wrestling. The context was that committed Christian Mysterio had chosen not to keep questioning why this tragedy happened and accepted that it was in God's control. We reported that sick people who wrongly blamed Mysterio for the death had been sending him death threats and made bogus reports to Mexican police about witnessing a murder.
BREAKING: It is now being reported that there had been a very strong push for Eva Marie to host the HoF alone after all. The plans go back as far as 2 months ago. Each time that the WWE came close to deciding on it, someone (unknown who, but a really high-up person) always reverted it back to Lawler. The decision was made on Thursday to have Eva host it, but this was not unanimously agreed upon. Lawler was not noted of any changes and it is Lawler's name currently on the script. Right now, it looks like Lawler will be the sole host, but Eva Marie may have some kind of interviewer role.
