The former Alberto Del Rio and the WWE have reached an agreement that lets him out of his vicious 'No Compete' clause.
Del Rio was released after an incident involving another WWE employee. Normally when WWE stars are released, they have to adhere to a 90-day No Compete clause. This prevents them from accepting bookings for any wrestling company that produces televised, pay-per-view or internet streamed shows for 3 months. Due to the nature of Del Rio's termination, his No Compete clause was extended to 1 full year AND prevented him from accepting bookings in the US at all during that time. However, Del Rio claims that his lawyer and the WWE have reached an agreement and that he is now officially free.
Rumours had circulated that Del Rio was only standing up to an employee that made racist comments about him and Mexican people. After failing to get an apology, Del Rio slapped the employee and was quickly terminated. Both Triple H and the WWE released statements that Del Rio "had only himself to blame" for his unprofessional conduct. It was believed that the other person involved was a close friend of Stephanie McMahon's, which is why he escaped punishment for 2 months. He was later released due to the backlash from current employees who defended Del Rio. Del Rio recently admitted in a UK interview that these allegations were completely true. He had not talked about this before because of a legal warning which prevented him from doing so in the US, Mexico or Canada.
There is a strong feeling that Cesaro is being punished, even though management has already denied this. Just before Hell In A Cell, Cesaro praised the number of new talents making it onto the main roster in an interview. However, he commented that fans were sick of seeing Randy Orton vs John Cena so often. At the time of the interview, Orton vs Cena was still the planned main event for HIAC. So the way that he was been booked since then has been to put Cesaro in his place. However, some are impressed by how well he is taking this. Dolph Ziggler was once punished for making similar comments about Orton in an interview. However, none of this has anything to do with Ziggler retaining the Intercontinental Championship against Cesaro at HIAC. This was part of a plan to build Ziggler up for his current story line.
Speaking of Orton, most people within the WWE are expecting him to "pull a Cena". Orton is legitimately injured and is genuinely shooting a WWE movie. The WWE has already suggested that he will not be back in time for Survivor Series. But just about everyone who works for the company expects him to be back for the event in some capacity. It is being believed that Orton's injuries are being exaggerated by management so that Orton would be seen to have made a "superhuman recovery". This trick has been done with Cena 3 times in his career so far. The WWE openly exaggerated the nature of Cena's injury, gave an equally exaggerated estimate of how long he would be out for, and then returned him when he had made a full recovery on schedule "early".
