Yes! Another WWE.com list.
This time, they are noting some of the worst choices of champion in WWE and WCW history. What is particularly interesting to note is how many times Vince Russo copied a WWE story line.
For some of these, the only issue is that they were a woman holding a men's title.
Most absurd Champions.
1. David Arquette as WCW World Heavyweight Champion.
To promote the WCW made movie 'Ready To Rumble', Vince Russo had actor David Arquette win the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. Arquette was against the idea, and was contractually forced to accept it. Ticket sales, ratings and pay-per-view buys plummeted during his short reign. Arquette felt so horrible that he donated all of his earnings to the families of Brian Pillman, Owen Hart and Darren 'Droz' Drozdov.
2. Vince Russo as WCW World Heavyweight Champion.
<blockquote class='quote\\_blockquote'><dl><dt>WWE.com</dt><dd> </dd></dl><div>
An even darker moment in WCW’s decline came only five months later. Vince Russo, a backstage bigwig, weaseled his way in front of the cameras and into in-ring competition. In a Steel Cage Match for the WCW Championship at Long Island, N.Y.’s Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Russo shockingly defeated Booker T in a chaotic bout to win the title. The following week, the pompous slob came to his senses, realized he was not an athlete, and relinquished the championship on Nitro. It didn’t matter – the damage was done. After Arquette and Russo, the credibility of WCW’s most coveted prize was beyond repair, and the company ceased operations six months later.

3. Rick Steiner and Judy Bagwell as WCW Tag Team Champions.
During their time as WCW World Tag Team Champions, Buff Bagwell turned on Rick Steiner to align himself with the nWo. When Bagwell challenged for the titles, he chose Rick's brother Scott as his tag team partner. Rick Steiner chose Judy Bagwell, Buff Bagwell's own mother, to be his partner and co-tag team champion.
4. Mr. McMahon
During the mid-1990s, the World Wrestling Federation was in a slump. They were losing superstars and ratings to WCW. Vince McMahon's business since was being called into question. He then heard about ECW, and chose to become a major investor in the company. Without McMahon's financial backing, the company would not have lasted nearly as long as it did. But then the WWE started taking stars and storylines from ECW, launching the Attitude era. To this day, there is still debate about who truly launched the Attitude era, was it McMahon, or was it Paul Heyman. ECW has gone down in pro wrestling history as one of the greatest inventions, an invention that McMahon cannot take credit for.
In 2006, McMahon tried to relaunch ECW as a third brand, with horrendous results. McMahon could not let go of the fact that ECW had a legacy that could not be linked to him. So he could not refuse the chance to be an ECW World Heavyweight Champion. What made the 54 year old's reign even more embarassing was knowing that every single one of his title matches were contested under handicap rules. Opponents also had to overcome Shane McMahon and Umaga. And even so, the trio were barely a match for Bobby Lashley.
5. Hervina as WWE Women's Champion
Hervina was actually Harvey Wippleman dressed as a woman. No reason has ever been made clear as to why Wippleman wanted the title. He is the only man to have ever won this championship.
6. Chris Jericho and Chyna as simeltaneous co-Intercontinental Champions.
Jericho made it a particular mission of his to take the WWE Intercontinental Championship away from Chyna, as he believed that no woman should ever have been allowed to compete for it. So when Chyna went for her rematch, it ended in a draw. Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley had an ax to grind with both Chyna and Jericho. Jericho had been rude about her since his debut. And SMH was never found of Triple H's ex. So as a punishment, she forced the rivals to be co-champions together. Jericho would later win a triple threat match to become the sole champion once more.
Just prior to winning the title, he vowed that if he could not beat Chyna is his first attempt, then he would have a sex change. This would become the first of very many vows that Jericho made with no intention of keeping to WWE fans. Also, Jericho would go on to win the title 9 times, more than any other person. But most of his runs with the title very short, many lasting less than a single month.
7. Crowbar and Daffney as simeltaneous co-Cruiserweight Champions.
Proving that WCW was more original than WWE, they copied the Jericho-Chyna storyline. The title had been put on the line in an inter-gender tag team match. Even though they clearly stated that only the male participant of the winning team could win the title, Daffney was allowed to co-hold the title with Crowbar. One week later, Daffney beat Crowbar to be the sole title holder.
8. Mideon as WWE European Champion.
Shane McMahon retired the European Championship. Mideon needed a belt to hold up his trousers, and he found the title in Shane's bag. He asked Shane if he could have it and Shane said he could. Mideon wore the belt to the ring, and re-activated the title.
9. Jim Duggan as WCW Television Champion.
Scott Hall had won the WCW Television and WCW United States Championships at the same time. He and Nash felt that the Television championship was useless, and threw the belt in the ring. Jim Duggan had been working for WCW as a janitor at the time. Three months later, he found the title belt in one of the bins (That's right, the bins weren't emptied for 3 months). He said that he was keeping it, making him the champion. The title would be retired properly a few months later.
10. Madusa as WCW Cruiserweight Champion.
Madusa was just as capable as any male on the WCW roster. So it was not surprising that she won a men's title. But the complaint here is that she did indeed win a men's title. And the bigger issue was who she lost the belt to...
11. Oklahoma as WCW Cruiserweight Champion.
Oklahoma was one of the most tasteless characters in WCW. An overweight announcer with a bad facial impairment. Writer Ed Ferrera was clearly making fun of Jim Ross' disability. It made things much worse when an Oklahoma, who was to heavy to contest for the Cruiserweight title, defeated a talented woman to do so.
12. Jacqueline as WWE Crusierweight Champion.
Jacqueline was just as capable as any man on the roster. Again, the problem was that she won a men's title. Chavo Guerrero and Chavo Classic kept making jokes about whether or not she had 'calhones'.
13. Chavo Classic as WWE Cruiserweight Champion
Chavo Guerrero had only just regained the title from Jacqueline when he lost it again to his own father. Chavo Classic feel on his son during a title defence and the referee counted the pin. He would lose the title quickly as his real-life behaviour took a slump. As soon as he had won the title, Chavo Sr. started no-showing and turning up late for events, or without his ring gear.
14. Hornswoggle as WWE Cruiserweight Champion
In fairness, Hornswoggle won the title in an open invitational. But no-one, not even the referee, understood that he had accepted the challenge. And he was not even an active competitor at the time. And he was considered too light to hold the title. So the title was retired for his own safety.
15. The Mean Street Posse as Hardcore Champions.
Rodney and Joey Abs both held the Hardcore Championship. And Pete Gas held it twice. But none of them have yet to win a single WWE match.
16. Pat Paterson and Gerald Brisco as Hardcore Champions.
Gerald Brisco and Pat Patterson had long retired from active competition. This alone made them unlikely title holders. But when Patterson betrayed Brisco to win the title, Patterson dressed as a woman so that he could hide in the Diva's lockerroom. Brisco used the same trick to get at him. Mr. McMahon was furious at seeing two of his closest assosiates fighting in drag, so he booked them both into an evening gown match. The match did not reach a conclusion as Crash Holly interfered and won the title.
17. Trish Stratus and Terri Runnels as Hardcore Champions.
They were women who won a men's title. And yes, they forgot about Mighty Molly and Bobcat.
