<big><big>American Hustle</big></big>
Before the movie :
The cast of the movie is what hooked me first for the movie, then came the trailers and almost everything i read or heard kept me interested, the movie came out today and as promised last week i went on the first day.
Movie Plot :
American Hustle is inspired by real events.
In 1978, Irving Rosenfiel and Sydney Prosser who will then fake to be an English aristocrat, begin an adulterous relationship and work together, scamming people until the day an FBI agent, Richie DiMaso, catches them.
He offers them a deal, if they help him to catch four other people he will release them. Things will go on and they'll be after Mayor Carmine Polito and other powerful people.
The whole scheme will get complicated when Irving will struggle to choose between his wife & son and Sydney and because he will start a friendship with Carmine while Sydney and Richie start a relationship and Richie starting to be more and more eager, always wanting to catch more of these corrupted powerful men.
My impressions :
+ The cast. It's an all star one : Bale, Cooper, Adams, Lawrence, Renner, DeNiro making an apparence and each of them is doing well in his/her role.
+ The characters. I felt empathy for them and at the end of the movie i didn't who i wanted to "win". Lawrence's one felt a bit annoying at a moment but ended being a bit interesting.
+ The story. I didn't know the story that was the base for the plot and it was really interesting.
+ The narration. Useful to be informed about the characters, it's well balanced and not invading the sound background all the time, it's used when it's needed.
- The beginning. The first scene takes place when Richie, Irving and Sydney already work together, then we go back in time to when Richie caught them.
- Blank sounds. Two or three times in the movie there were a few seconds where some characters look at each other and there is no talk, no music, nothing. I really got into the movie and these few seconds got me out of it for a few minutes after.
- DeNiro's character. I wish we could have seen him a little more.
To conclue, this movie is nice. The story, characters, actors, the whole thing is good and the late 70's look like i imagine it was. The movie doesn't have a lot of action but is really catchy, with some funny scenes (mostly with Cooper or Lawrence). I really enjoyed it so if you read nice things but still doubt on wether go watch it or not all i'd tell you to go.
