It is a sad story that we read far too often, but yet another infant has been killed by a grown man imitating wrestling moves.

New Jersey man Scott Hoffman, 20, was arrested after causing the accidental death of his girlfriend's 18-month old son. The man claimed that he had been performing various WWE superstar finishers on the child onto a bed. Tragedy struck when he attempted an elevated powerbomb (Last Ride), and missed the bed. The child hit the floor and was knocked unconscious. The child was rushed to hospital where it was discovered to have a collapsed lung and a broken neck. The child passed away in intensive care.

The man tried to cover up his neglect by claiming that he had simply dropped the baby. He came clean when he heard how bad the injuries were.

The WWE has already released the following statement:

an article about 20 year old Scott Hoffman from New Jersey, who has been arrested in the death of his girlfriend's 18 month old son. The man claimed he was doing wrestling moves on the child, specifically naming The Rock Bottom and The Undertaker's Last Ride.

The main claims he missed a bed while doing The Last Ride and the child hit the floor instead, knocking him out. The child was rushed to a local hospital but diagnosed with a collapsed lung and possibly broken neck. He passed away later unfortunately. The main originally claimed he dropped the baby.

WWE issued the following statement to The Patriot News in response to the story:

<blockquote class='quote\\_blockquote'><dl><dt>WWE Statement</dt><dd> </dd></dl><div>
There is no excuse for a 20-year-old grown man to assault an 18-month old child, no matter what. Using a flimsy excuse about emulating a wrestling maneuver does not absolve Brandon Hoffman of this abhorrent crime. The death of Bryson Shoemaker is a tragedy, and WWE offers its condolences to the child's mother, Sierra Shoemaker."
[/quote]

Important note: I am aware that I have posted Hoffman's name as "Scott", while the WWE statement called him "Brandon". This is how my source reported the story. As far as I know, his proper name is Scott Hoffman.

Dang! There must be some type of pattern going on! I just don't know where...

A very special kind of stupid, but (and I'm not trying to make excuses for him) maybe people who do shit like this were abused as children.

I'm really sad to hear this today. The FIRST rule of a wrestling fan is "Don't try this at home". Second: he was a 18 month old child!!!! Was he crazy??? Yes, he was, and is so. Doctors have to cut his balls off. A FOOL. I HATE THESE THINGS. THESE BRING SHIT ON WRESTLING, AND THEIR VICTIMS ARE INNOCENT PEOPLE

If there is always a do not try this at home, why are people so stupid to actually try it at home?

The guy honestly is retarded but this problem always happens which is mind blowing. That is what pisses me off
