An arrest warrant has been issued for WWE Superstar Heath Slater.

The warrant relates to an incident which happened after a WrestleMania 27 after party. There were rumours of a police report being filed in July 2011, 3 months after the alleged incident happened. But it is not known why it has taken so long for anything to come of it.

FOX-5 television claimed that Slater assaulted a female security worker. It alleges that Slater put Corinne Oliver into a "chokehold" and tried to force her into an elevator. Oliver claims that Slater had been trying to drag her back to his hotel room at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta. This was also the same building where the after party was being held. Oliver claims that she was injured and had broken 5 vertabrae in her back. Oliver added that she reported the incident to her supervisor the next morning, but nothing was ever done about it.

Oliver claims that she waited 3 months to make a police report because she believed her supervisors at Allied Barton Securities would have done it. She adds that an unnamed wrestler witnessed the incident but did nothing to help. Even though she did not name this person, speculators have assumed that it was Justin Gabriel because he and Slater were in a tag team at the time. However, it should be noted that there is no details linking Gabriel to the incident.

The strangest twist is that the Atlanta police report for "simple assault / battery" was actually declined last year. So it is unknown why it was suddenly approved now.

WWE attorney Jerry McDevitt claimed that the report was filed against Heath Miller (Slater) and not the WWE.

Right now, nothing else is known. There is no comment from Slater as yet, or any indication that he will hand himself in. There is also no word on whether or not Slater's job is in jeopardy. In that respect, the warrant comes at a particularly bad time for Slater. The WWE has been releasing superstars and allowing contracts to expire in order to save money. It was believed that his job was safe, even though there are no major plans for him. Earlier this year, Stephanie McMahon announced that WWE had partnered with a charity that campaigns against violence towards women. So if Slater is guilty, he will be released.

If Slater is innocent, he has 2 factors working in his favour. The first is the concern over why it took more than 3 years for the warrant to be issued. When you consider that one arrest appeal was already declined, it suggests that there is serious doubt over Oliver's allegations. Also, the warrant was reduced to "simple assault / battery". Oliver claimed that there was a possible attempt of rape. All of these factors mean that the courts may not believe this is the case. Whatever the truth is, the delay will make it harder for any charges to stick. That said, if Oliver's claims are genuine, it could hurt her chances of getting justice.

We will post updates when they become available.
