The WWE website has reported that Daniel Bryan's father has passed away.
The report offers no information relating to the death, other than Bryan (real name Bryan Danielson) only found out once he had returned from his honeymoon. However, the report does say that Bryan has insisted on working tonight's Raw. Although it is presumed that Bryan will not be involved with any WWE events for the remaineder of the week for obvious reasons.
Bryan's father would have just witnessed his son headlining WrestleMania XXX and winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, just before attending his son's wedding to Brianna Garcia (Brie Bella).
Some critics have already blasted the WWE for making a much bigger deal about Bryan returning to Raw tonight, overshadowing his recent tragedy. But it is likely that Bryan asked for it to be this way. Bryan had always made a concentrated effort to keep his private life out of the public eye. He was notoriously resistant to being involved with the Total Divas show, but only went along with it because it would help Brie's career.
Also today, Dana Warrior released her first public statement since her husnad Ultimate Warrior passed away 2 weeks ago. There was a plan for an excerpt of the statement to be read on Raw. This may be handled differently in light of this breaking story.
