Three scheduled WWE DVDs which were scrapped may be back in production.

Joey Styles announced on Twitter earlier this year that there will not be any further installments of the ECW: Unreleased series. A second edition was heavily dependent on high sales of volume 1. The product has not done nearly as well as any other ECW DVD that the WWE has released so far, apart from ECW December to Dismember. A huge part of the reason is because several of the matches on the set can be viewed on other WWE releases and on WWE's Internet based services. But researchers are now looking for even rarer matches for the new release.

Now that 'The Very Best of WCW Monday Night Nitro' has become the biggest selling non-WrestleMania DVD in WWE history, work has started on a second volume. DDP confirmed that he would be heading to WWE Studios to start filming segments. DDP hosted the first release too.

A proposed DVD set based on the Attitude era is still going ahead. But the original content listing has changed. There are not further details on the changes at this time.

Several WWE releases based on the Attitude era have been hampered by lawsuits. Due to a court order, the WWE may no longer use the WWF scratch logo that appears heavily in Attitude era footage. Not can they have any soundbites of wrestlers or announcers saying WWF. The WWE has been reluctant to release attitude era footage due to the amount of editing and censorship that would go into preparing it.

In addition, several WWE DVDs had to be withdrawn after Martha Hart filed a lawsuit against the WWE. As the primary owner of Owen Hart's estate, his wife refuses to allow WWE to use any footage of Owen to be used. This includes footage centered on the British Bulldog and the other Hart family members.

Speaking of Bulldog, it is claimed that the WWE does not pay royalties to Bulldog's widow Diane Smith every time they use her husband's image. Diane has had several troubles with the WWE after her husband died. In addition to mis-using their son Harry Smith, the WWE has also damaged and tried to claim ownership over some of the Smith family's possessions.
