Obviously, this is done in many other video games. My question is this possible in this game? If it is why has no one done it? Has no one made a specific tool to use for this game?

I'm not sure how games are constructed. Is this game made before models were used in games? Meaning the past method of models or whatever was done is not the same as the current models that can and have been exported.

Is there too much work involved to switch character models? Would lots of other things in the game need to be adjusted?

You fellas know what I'm talking about right?

Changing the wrestler models from skinny 1,2 etc to a whole new model of a type of build. For example, I take out fat 2 and replace it with a Donkey Kong model.

I might have the wrong idea on how this is done in games. I thought the exact model was taken from one game and put in another. Maybe some changes are made to make it fit (I don't know) but basically that's the process.

No Mercy models don't really need to be changed apart from very minor stuff like arms being completely connected to the body. But I'm honestly fine with how they are.

Check around and have a go for yourself. Its different from modding/Code hacks.

Ah, so it is possible. That's what I was wondering.

I don't think it's necessary to change them but I thought it may be interesting to do so in some situations. A new way to make a unique character is what I was thinking. No one should get their hopes up on me doing this. I'll look around but I doubt I'll figure it out and I'm not asking anyone here to do it for me either.

I didn't say it was, and I didn't say its not possible. You can do it with other N64 games though.

Thanks for the replies, the hacking of shapes is interesting and complex. I asked about model swaps because 1. it would be interesting and new (to me anyway) and 2. It could add to what I'm working on.

At most if there was a plugin allowing you to replace ingame models you would only be able to shift around the basic of polygons. It would somewhat mean the end to big hacks too. But yeah, nobody any time soon is going to make a model importer for Project64 - it would require a ton of work, I could only imagine the intricacies of what the model in 3DS Max would require, especially on the biped rigging.

My dream is gone, sad day for me. I was poking around the internet myself but I didn't find anything that directly related to N64. There's no way I'd be able to make a tool that is needed. I'd have to get some serious training.

I thought it'd be cool to import different models, spice up an old game that way. Oh well, maybe if I'm ever a millionaire I'll hire a programmer looking for work.

Yes, I was wrong, spoke too soon. The problem is actually injecting a new model into a game. I haven't seen much about how to do that. I've seen a lot about exporting but not importing models into a different game. Maybe it's obvious, I don't know as I haven't tried it yet.

I'll try it out and see how it works. Looks like all I need is Blender and 3DRipper. Even if it doesn't look perfect I think it's worth trying. A new spin put on the game for WWF No Mercy modders.
