A computer glitch at an entertainment website accidentally implied that actress Selena Gomez had died.
The actual story reported on the death of Hollywood legend Shirley Temple. Shirley Temple is considered to be the first child actress to reach super stardom. She is best known for her movies involving elaborate tap dance routines. She died last night, aged 85.
But when the link was posted on Facebook, it was accompanied by a recent picture of Selena Gomez.
Several celebrities, including actor George Takei, paid tribute to Temple and posted the link. They were unaware of the error, but most deleted the link within 2 hours after a deluge of fan feedback. The headline to the article clearly stated that it was Temple who died.
According to a few comments on Takei’s link, there was actually a second fault. People who clicked on the ink were not treated to an article about Temple or Gomez. It was allegedly to a story involving heroin.
Sorry for not getting a picture of this. I was at work when this happened, and the screen cap I got was terrible.
