After the news that Spike TV chose not to renew a deal with TNA Wrestling, thousands of internet fans chose to blame Vince Russo. But no accusation came any harder than from Smith Hart.

Congratulations [Vince Russo] not only did u murder my brother but you've successfully killed 2 wrestling companies.I have a challenge for u.[/quote]
Smith Hart was referring to the tragic accident in 1999 in which his brother Owen Hart died. According to legend, Russo booked the Blue Blazer gimmick to punish Owen, and then booked the angle in which Owen fell to his death. Smith was also referring to the demise of World Championship Wrestling, where Russo had been working as a writer.
It is not known why Russo is being blamed for Spike TV ending their deal with TNA. It is known that Russo had a lot of heat with Spike TV because of Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff. While Dixie Carter was negotiating a deal with Hogan, Hogan made it clear he was unhappy about working with Russo and demanded more money to do so. Hogan and Bischoff would then blame Russo for many of the mistakes that they themselves made.
Russo recently admitted that he had been back working with TNA and that he had been asked to keep it a secret. Shortly after this news got out, TNA's renewal deal with Spike TV was off the table.
It is worth nothing the Jim Ross does not believe that TNA has lost their TV deal with Spike TV. He believes that with Spike TV having recently bought out Bellator, Spike TV are actually keen to keep TNA. He notes TNA Wrestling is one of their highest watched shows, being one of the very few that pulls in more than 1 million weekly viewers. If anything, Ross thinks that the negotiations are "off the table" to try and scare Dixie in reducing the fee for rights to the product.
