<big><big>Divergent</big></big>
Before the movie :
I didn't read the books, didn't even heard about it and didn't follow anything about the movie but latelly i saw some viewers reviews comparing it to Hunger Games and they were either very good either awful, so i had to make my own opinion thinking i would like it because i enjoyed Hunger Games.
Movie Plot :
In a dystopian future people are divided into factions : abnegation, amity, candor, erudite and dauntless.
Every year, teenagers pass a test to define which daction would fit them best, Beatrice/Tris grew in the abnegation faction but the test says she is a Divergent, someone who can fit in any faction and can think independently which bother the government.
Triss decides to join the dauntless and will have to train to join them and hide the fact that she is a Divergent, the government (erudite faction) will try to control this faction to eradicate the abnegation.
My impressions :
+ The training parts.
+ The capture the flag part.
+ The fear tesing scenes.
- The base idea of people being split into sections based on their personalities seems dumb to me.
- Hate the main characters.
- Didn't like the music.
- Dialogues are blank.
- Love saves the day.
- Triss' father is plain dumb, i guess the scene i refer to was supposed to be touching but we just don't care.
- Very predictable.
- Cliché.
To conclude, you would have guessed i didn't like the movie, to me it's blank, the only character i found a bit likeable (Maggie Q) is minor. Interactions between characters are made too quickly and looks forced, every time you see a new character you know how he will turn, it's full of clichés.
I don't get the comparison with Hunger Games, HG could fit any kind of viewer but Divergent seems to aim at 12 year old girls who just want a dumb romance in a pseudo devastated environment that make them dream about a nowadays Romeo and Juliet, sorry if i sound like an asshole but i really got bored by the movie and i think that's why.
If you wanted to watch it i won't try to discourage you but if you're unsure about it, i wouldn't recommand that movie.
