Before the movie :

I didn't know the novel it's based on but got interested in this movie when i heard about it and the cinema near me was showing it early (the movie is supposed to hit theatres June 4th) so, i got to see this.

Movie Plot :

In the future, an alien race is on Earth and at war against humanity, they seem to be
winning
Major William Cage, a man who never went on the battlefield, is sent to fight, the team whith which he is affected already consider him dead. They are sent to a battle but the enemy where waiting for them and all the squad is slaughtered, Cage manages to kill a few aliens but end up dying.
Cage wakes up at the beginning of the day he just died, he is stuck in a time loop and every time he dies the day starts again, with help from Rita Vrataski he might be the only hope for humanity to win this war.

My impressions :

+ The aliens. They're fast, powerfull and look like a real threat, their design with all the tentacles is cool.
+ Tom Cruise's character being a complete jerk, he made adds for millions of people to join the army but would do anything to avoid going to battle himself. The way he evolves is interesting.
+ The explanation of how the ability to be stuck in a time loop is earned and disappears is alright.
+ The action scenes, the exoskeletons really look heavy at first and then we see the way it allows soldiers to move.

- The 3D. This point is to put between parenthesis because i don't know if it's the movie which didn't do it well or if it was the cinema who fucked up but it's the first time i end up having a headache.
- The team is cliché, you have the badass, the silent one, the fat dirty dude, the tomboy,etc...A little plus for Bill Paxton's portrayal of Master Sergeant who made me smile.

To conclude the movie is a success, i mean it would have been easy to be boring with the idea of living the same day again and again but it keeps us entertained all the time.
I think it's a movie I would advise to watch, I went with 3 friends and we all loved it.
If all the movies of this summer are as good as this, the season will be great.

I watched it today and really enjoyed it.

One critic said '...possibly at the expense of the special effects, which aren't much to write home about.'

Not sure which planet he was from because they were great. In fact, you don't notice most of them which is what a good effect should be.

But all of that is incidental to the main point, which was the entertaining story that held my interest the entire time.

All the more interesting because Tom Cruise played a chump to begin with, who learned through a process of repetition to be something better.

I'm getting bored of all of this Cruise bashing. He makes enough good films (and some really good ones) to cut him a bit of slack. But I guess it's an easy shot, so some people still like to take it.
