Few questions regarding No Mercy

Hello,

I used to play this game when I was much younger, and 2 things that really pissed me off about this game. The fact that there was a major save glitch where the game would delete all of your caws and save progress. From my understanding, AKI released a update to that, right? hopefully, the roms that are out on the internet are the updated version. My question when using these mods, is it preferable to use the latest version that AKI released or does it not matter ? Follow up question, NTSC OR PAL ?

The other problem I did not like at all was the fact when you had 4 players on the screen, the game would be much SLOWER. And that really put me off this game, which is why i prefer revenge, or even Wrestlemania 2000. Those games, when you have 4 players on the screen, the game does not slow down whats so ever. NO Mercy had a major issue with this or it could of been on my end due to glitch or the faulty version they released back then.

I know things of progressed especially when it comes to hacking and extracting more information from roms. My question is, has the community been able to fix this problem for No Mercy? I am referring to having 4 players in the ring.

After doing some research, this is what i was able to find. Anyone with greater knowledge, please shine some light on this.

Title: Faster Gameplay For 4 Players
Description: Speeds up gameplay for everybody, Now there is no slowdowns with 4 Player Matches.

According to another website by RaSMG
note - this doesn't STOP the slowdown when the CPU is processing too much .. this speeds up the actual speed of the grapples and strikes and movements .. it somewhat helps but i'd still suggest turning music off as that tends to almost eliminate the frame rate probs.

Beware, the comment by RaSMG is roughly 3-4 years old. Again, I have no idea how much has changed since then.

If you use PJ64, any slow down would be the result of using a slow or absolutely fucked computer. You can use higher resolution texture mods because it isn't an N64. That hack is probably for gameshark users because I have absolutely no use for it.

edit: PS anyone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I've been pushing this game to the limit for 10 years and hacking it for 12. So I'm feeling pretty confident on the topic.

double edit: Oh, I forgot to mention I have FPS issues at times when I have Sony Vegas, Fraps, Photoshop, iTunes, and Chrome open at the same time.

CRW's TKS , thanks for your insight. I will take your word. However, check this out. It confirms to what i am talking about.

<blockquote class='code_blockquote'><dl><dt>Code: </dt><dd> </dd></dl><code>Maybe most strange of all is that No Mercy suffers from some quite noticeable slow down when four characters are on screen at once, something that never happened in any of the predecessors. Granted the models are more detailed now and there are many more objects around the ring area, but it feels like the game simply suffer from being rushed in some areas and could have used some more polishing. There's also a number of bugs to be found, one so crippling that replacement copies had to be issued. A batch of the first print copies came with a bug that made the game unable to save your progress, CAWs and all other saves, rendering much of the game unplayable. This particular big was fixed shortly after release.</code></blockquote>

Modern Technology has helped us fix these bugs to this day, so you won't have a problem if you're playing on a rom.
Physical No Mercy was tainted in my life due to the caw glitch so yeah I feel you, also you gotta know that this is an N64, so of course it's going to lag with 4 players. N64 has a tendency to lag because some of the things the games(not just No Mercy) have the N64 just couldn't take. Also, in case No Mercy gets boring I recommend some fancy texture mods which is on our site

so what you are saying, is that if something were to lag on the physical n64 games, those issues would not happen in the emulation scene due to the advancement of technology? yeah, right now, i am trying to get hold of a real n64 controller so i can use mayflash to play these games better. i read this is the best setup.

Not to be mean, but this is frustrating.

[/quote]Thanks but I read somewhere online that these devices are not that great. There are some lag issues. I read that Mayflash and using an original controller is the best method. Correct me if I am wrong? LOL I been using my PS3 controller to play these games, but i do prefer a n64 controller.

I use mayflash but depending on windows version there can be issues with lag too.
I think gamecube pads work nice too but n64 original controller is best but I have a ps2 mapped and I use it a lot too because it's comfortable and two analogs rule!
