Brodus Clay's new "Funkasauras" gimmick has been put on hold, according to the Wrestling Globe Newsletter. WWE head Vince McMahon reportedly believes Clay's in-ring work needs to improve. Clay in a match against Heath Slater was cut from Smackdown earlier this month, and Clay has not appeared on WWE TV since the January 30 Raw. Clay wrestled dark matches at last week's set of TV tapings.

How about giving him some actual in-ring work - besides squashes - before deciding it needs improvement? That being said, I think this goes way beyond ring work into the realm of gimmickry. IMO, Clay would much rather be a monster heel and really hasn't embraced the role of the dancing fat guy. Which basically makes the 'Funkasauras' a hard sell.</td><td>

There is a little more to the story than what is reported here.

A few weeks ago, Brodus had a dance off with Vickie Guerrero. After Regal intervened, Clay challenged Regal. During his challenge, Clay yelled, "Or are you a f*ckin' chicken?".

And no, he did NOT say "funky". Click the Botchamania link at the top of the page.

It was only after it became popular on YouTube did anybody in WWE realise what was really said. By that time, they were already receiving complaints. So they needed to take action without drawing more attention to it. And sending Clay out for more training is just a part of this.

Chances are, we will see Clay again, but with a new gimmick.
