Before the movie :

I had no idea what it was when it was first announced and thought it sounded stupid, then came the first images and it looked fun, colorful and different from the other Marvel movies and i liked it which caught my interests.

Movie Plot :

Earth,1988, a young Peter Quill is in a hospital visiting is sick mother who dies in front of him, in despair the kid runs away and is abducted by an alien spaceship.

26 years later, Peter became a Ravager, a space pirate, and is stealing an orb, Korath tries to catch him but Peter succeeds to fly away. He goes to Xander, homeworld of the Nova Corps, where he wants to sell the orb but the fact that Ronan, a fanatical Kree, is looking for it is scaring the buyer who throws Peter out of his shop. In the streets Gamora, Thanos' daughter sent by Ronan, wants to get the orb while Rocket and Groot are chasing Peter because of the bounty on his head. All of them get caught and sent to prison because of the mess they did on Xandar.

In the prison they meet Drax whose family was killed by Ronan and he seeks revenge, their interest for the orb and hate toward Ronan will link them as a weird team that will have the galaxy's future on their shoulders.

My impressions :

+ Not wasting time in origin stories. We have a few minutes with the young Peter and that's all.
+ The team. Yes they are a bit cliché but all of them have their moment of glory, their funny moment and are likeable.
+ Colorful.
+ The music. I don't have much knowledge of 70's/80's music because it's not my taste but it brings a happy feeling to the movie.
+ Makeup. Lots of aliens are made with paint and prosthetics.

- Thanos. Maybe i'm nitpicking but having most aliens being done with makeup, seeing the CG Thanos makes him look weird when he could have been another man with makeup and costume. He isn't badly done and maybe i'm nitpicking here.

To conclude, i loved it, it's good to see a superhero movie going crazy and not trying to apply a Nolan treatment. It's my favorite Marvel studios movie so far and i would suggest you to see it even if you are part of the people who are tired of superheroes movies.

Good to the point review man, haven't seen a Marvel film in a long time (cgi explosions aren't what make a film for me) this I might check out soon.

Solid review for a solid movie. Didn't have a character that I really loved, but I generally liked all of the characters. Music got on my nerves after overuse. I'd be okay with never hearing Hooked On A Feeling ever again. I dig it, though. The action scenes were awesome.

Thanks guys.

@TKS, i agree about Hooked on a feeling, i can't stand this music anymore. I was supposed to make a first try at doing a video version of the review and had put the song as a background music, after finishing the video i started to watch and it pissed me i deleted everything because i didn't know what else to put to replace it and didn't want to keep that one.
