That..... is unexpected.

Good work, looking forward to seeing how this develops.

A small guide of how it was done.

o8ta9z.jpg

The left side of the bottom rope is the first series of values for the individual ropes in the polygon pointers.

The distance between each rope is 23 (hex).
Top - D4 D0 D2 D2
Mid - B1 AD AF AF
Bot - 8E 8A 8C 8C

In order to get the even placement for the fourth rope, you simply subtract 23 from the Bot values.

4th - 6B 67 69 69

Then, once that bottom portion is at the 4th level, it skews as it's still connected to the whole 3rd rope.

You extend the whole 3rd rope to the turnbuckle to create a perpendicular angle as opposed to 45 degrees.

This will allow you to extend the moved segment of rope to the opposite turnbuckle post, creating the 4th rope.

A minor flaw with this method, a small amount of "rope" continues to stay in place (the small red line between 3 and 4).

Other than that, it's a short code for the whole ring, and with height mods on the ropes, they can be brought closer together -- making the gap size slightly smaller, and realistic.

I think I'm going to try to wrap it up for all 4 sides today, and do some modifications to create my own boxing arena. I did an MMA/UFC arena, so a Boxing Arena would only add to the collection.

The ropes code will be released separate for those wanting to make their own 4-rope'd rings. :)

Awesome. So is it possible to keep the colors different (even if the 4th rope is linked to the 3rd)?

Unless you use more segments (I'm only using 1/7 for the 4th rope), it will continue to have that small fade between the connection. But if you use 3/7, you should be able to get a solid 4th rope a different color.

Minor Update -- The theory for the turnbuckle padding seemed to have worked. 2 sets will be white. 1 red / 1 blue. They will be covered with a single thicker pad -- similar to the MMA/UFA arena corner padding.

Minor update :
jgjvuu.jpg

Different padding is set. The ones with a white star share the same texture and will be white. The blue star will be changed to a different graphic and blue. Same with the red. :)

Next on the list is to create and connect ring posts, resize the apron to fit those, and then maybe* lower the ring mat a bit so the ropes don't seem so low.

;)

This actually looks soooooooooooooooooooo sick. I'm glad people are making other arenas/rings for other sports, because No Mercy can hold them all up. :p

It's going to look awesome when textured. It's a big ass code though -- clocking in at 1,045 total lines right now. Something this advanced might be a pre-cursor/motivation to tackle some other tough things (or shit I never finished last round)

There's going to be a lot of work going into it. I'm estimating at least a 5,000 line code when it's done. There's already 1,500 lines. I'm sticking with the skinny poles + fat pads. The contrast makes it feel cooler to play in.

In Match Progress : (need to move the bottom right pole a few clicks...)

Edit -- Already made the apron taller. Looked too small in these previews.

Sadly, I think I need to take a break until my next gym rest day -- Wednesday. I might be able to sneak something in on Mon/Tues but with an 8hr work day + 2 hours in the gym.... my brain turns to mush.

It's really given me a deeper understanding of the game's memory, how activators work with static movements, and how to use memory patterns to my advantage.

Now I think I have the knowledge to finish my HIAC, Inferno Match, recreate a better Indy Arena, maybe even a Hammerstein Ballroom.
