I downloaded the Project64 package from the emulator thread on this forum and unzipped the rar file. I then clicked on Project64.exe to start up the program and started to load my ROM but was stopped by this error:

Attempt to open zip file failed.
Missing or corrupt zip file - check path and file.
You may need to restart the application.

I decided to try unzipping the Project64_1.7.0.49.zip instead and started up that version of the program
Once i loaded my ROM it started this time but was very laggy.

I want to set up my emulator for texture dumping/mods so i downloaded Mudlords Rice Video Plugin to the Project64_1.7.0.49 folder and set the video plugin to it in the settings window.

When i loaded my ROM this time i got an error:

Failed to open Flashram.

What am i doing wrong?

Thanks for reading.

If it said "failed to open flashram", you probably still have a pj64.exe file running. Open your task manager... stop the process, then open it up, again. I've had that happen to me a bunch of times. :)

Freeware can be buggy, sometimes.

Thanks AKI Man and Flying Toaster for your replies.

Your solutions to the 'Flashram' error worked so thanks for that.
I looked through the installation guide but didnt find anything about the zip file error im getting with Project64 1.6.
With 1.7 i attempted to load the textures that came with the emulator pack but it wont get passed the intro credits before it crashes and i get the windows 'Project64 has stopped working' message.

Here is my computer info if this helps:
Windows Vista Home
Service Pack 2
AMD Turion X2 Ultra Dual-Core Mobile ZM-82 2.20 GHz
4.00 GB RAM
32-bit Operating System
DirectX 11

Thanks again for your replies :)

Seriously....

Your PC is way better than mine, so you should have no issue. I know if you are windowns 7/Vista problems can occur, but you are using Vista so its ok!!

Glad its sorted.

I used to run Vista with PJ 1.6, which I still use today on my other computer that is running XP.

I would recommend that one, honestly.

So the PJ64 folder is completely unzipped? I usually keep it on my desktop to avoid extra problems, for some reason I've heard it works for a lot of guys.

You don't have to unzip the rom, though. I haven't personally used 1.7, El Guapo has a bit, though. I'll see if I can get the guy to chime in.

Do the textures load at least? If you can make it to the start match screen and then it crashes, you may want to untick some of your cheats.
