<table><tr><td>JR on why so many young 'cookie cutter' wrestlers?

Likely many reasons...a lack of 'it'...not enough confidence in their own abilities to take needed chances...no viable, weekly territories to help them develop the needed 5 or so years. Or, it could be how they are coached or respond to their coaching. It could be many things or combinations of factors. I happen to think that FCW has some outstanding prospects currently in training and how they respond and adapt when they are called up remains to be seen.

TDK's Take:

I'm not a big JR booster, but I do think he makes an interesting point here regarding the rise of Vince's empire and the loss of the territorial system. Back in the day, young talent had the opportunity to learn, grow and develop before being thrust onto the national stage. Many of them even got to work as something more than a mid-carder - thereby gaining valuable headline experience - in the smaller territories. At the risk of reminiscing, it seems something valuable may have been lost.</td><td>

Sometimes Jim Ross can be one of the biggest WWE marks to sit at a keyboard. And at other times, he is a unique mind who can see and understand things that people even closer to the situation tend to miss. On this occassion, Ross has again given some genuine insight.

"a lack of 'it'" - In some cases, definitely.
"not enough confidence in their own abilities to take needed chances" - in some cases definitely.
"no viable, weekly territories to help them develop the needed 5 or so years." - in some cases, definitly.
"it could be how they are coached or respond to their coaching. - in some cases, definitely.
"I happen to think that FCW has some outstanding prospects currently in training..." - in some cases, definitely.
"...and how they respond and adapt when they are called up remains to be seen." - in EVERY case, defintely.

One thing that I think Ross missed is that so many of these prospects are being put through a process that no longer works. Far too many people are coming into the WWE roster without gimmicks or noteable personalities. If there is nothing for the fans to connect with, the wrestler can't connect with the fans. They should stop waiting for wrestlers to get over with the fans before working with them.

Most of the contestant's on NXT had the exact same gimmick!

He ALWAYS gives genuine insight, calling him a WWE mark is dumb considering he always criticizes WWE when it's deserved, and praises it when necessary. He is far from a WWE mark.

I think he always gives genuine insight, but he is also professionally aware enough to know when to hold back on things, because he understands the business. He has always come off as someone who genuinely love professional wrestling, one of the many reasons he's a legend, and arguably the greatest commentator of all time.

He's spot on about the lack of diversity in the roster, a lot of the guys who seem to slip through the cracks are not even bad wrestlers. This actually goes the same for a lot of the roster that didn't really catch my eye, however, over the last several months (especially after Survivor Series, which I thought was great) there really seems to be a much better scene, in my opinion. A lot of guys have stepped up their game, and a lot of things were done right to make 'em.

Eh, I'm just shitting all over this thread. /rant
