Before the movie :
I hesitated before watching Kingsman, not being sure if it was worth the price of the cinema ticket, I really liked the trailers but was afraid it might have shown all the cool parts of the movie.
We were supposed to go watch Chappie this week-end with friends but some events made us want to laugh and Kingsman was the only option, so we went hoping to see action, violence and dumbness like the first Kick-Ass.
Movie Plot :
During a mission, a training agent sacrificed himself to protect his team. The leader of this operation, Harry "Galahad" Hart, goes to the widow to give her a medal with a phone number engraved on it, tellign her that she could ask him for whatever she needs, she refuses so Harry gave the medal to her son Eggsy.
Seventeen years later, Lancelot is killed while trying to save Professor James Arnold who was kidnapped. The Kingsman secret service is trying to find out who kidnapped the professor and killed their agent. In the meantime a selection is launched to find someone to replace Lancelot.
Eggsy grew up and is now a worthless man, intelligent and athletic, he wastes his potential and lives with his mother, half sister and violent stepfather. Being arrested for stealing a car, he decides to call the number behind the medal and said the coded message, he is instantly released and Harry is waiting for him outside the police station. He learns about the Kingsman and decides to apply to try and join the service.
Kingsman's investigation lead them to Richmond Valentine, an internet billionaire, who as an evil plan and is responsible of Lancelot's death.
Does he have what it takes to be a Kingsman ?
My impressions :
+ Szzamuel L.Jackszzon is hilarious. Colin Firth is great as the classy englishman as well as Mark Strong in his trainer role but Jackson had the whole cinema laughing everytime.
+ Clichés. It has every aspect of the old Bond movies, with the crazy evil plan from a weird guy with his sexy and deadly henchwoman, gadgets and always perfect tailor made suit.
+ The action scenes. They're over the top, fun and violent. Special point for the church one (don't know why it was censured in some countries though)
+ Giving a chance to young actors Taron Egerton and Sophie Cookson.
- Not that gory. I was expecting a lot more blood even if those colorful explosions look cool.
- The title screen. Some explosions on a building and the debris come to the screen to form words, it didn't look good at all.
To conclude, Kingsman is a really cool film that entertained us from the beginning to the end. It's 2 hours of fun that i'll be sure to buy for rewatch with some beers and friends when the dvd will be out, so if you are hesitating to watch it, i'd say give it a shot.
