AKI Man
Legend
Unlike MOST SNES games out, Lemmings doesn't involve going around and killing random enemies. Rather, you direct a group of lemmings through levels by assigning them various jobs.
Gameplay: 8/10
Lemmings has very solid gameplay, with over 140 levels (not counting the bonus ones). The surprising part is that almost every level is completely different, with some exceptions. While some of the strategy involves a lot of button-mashing (trying to get that lone bridge-builder to start building after his first supply has run out without letting him fall to his death), much of it is simple, raw planning. The multiple jobs allow for different solutions to the puzzles (using a bomb here rather than a digger, or building over something instead of tunneling through it). You can also control many aspects of the game itself, such as how fast the lemmings drop (to some extent), what they do, when they do it, and so on. The puzzles are hard, but nowhere near impossible to complete, and it's pretty easy to see what has to be done to get through it.
The two-player mode is also quite fun, giving the extra edge of trying to kill off your opponent's lemmings while getting yours to the goal. Blowing up all your lemmings just to watch the other player quit out of pure frustration is one of the best moments the game offers.
The only bad part of Lemmings is that in the levels, there are parts when all your lemmings will drop into the same hole, and are walking so closely together that you can't get any single one to do a job. Plus, there are some levels where it's literally impossible to get to 100%, because of the way that one of the jobs (blocker, which makes your lemming into a barrier) can't be reversed.
Controls: 7/10
The controls are one of the worst aspects of the game. The job selection is done by cycling through with X and Y, which can make it VERY difficult to select a certain job in time. Other than that, they're great, and very easy to use.
Graphics: 8/10
While the graphics aren't the best in the world, they're still quite good, and each sprite has a good amount of animations (around 30). While the lemmings are VERY small, they can easily be seen.
Sound:
Nothing much in this category, so I'm not going to rate it, as there really isn't that much to rate.
