In yet another step backwards for TNA, two promising UK stars have been removed from the roster.

Katrina "Winter" Waters' website has confirmed that she is no longer with the company. This has followed months of speculation regarding her status. While the website suggests that Winter wanted to leave, the reality is that TNA did not offer to renew her contract, which recently expired.

Mark Haskins has also been released, after only one match in the company. Haskins famously injured himself in his debut match in his home country. He botched his finisher, a shooting star press, landing on his face. His opponent Austin Aries was not aware of the incident, and went for the planned finish. Haskins was unable to prepare properly for the kick to the head, the brainbuster and then Last Chancery submission. The fall, and the following combination of moves left Haskins with a severe concussion and a neck injury.

The official word is that many stars are being asked to take pay cuts, or even released, as cost cutting measures. However, some members of staff are worried that the money saved will be offered to Hulk Hogan when his contract expires next month.

The reason why British wrestlers are being released or taken off television is to push Magnus. Magnus, Douglas Williams, Winter and Mark Haskins are all from the England, with Magnus being the least popular of the four. Magnus had been featured very heavily on UK broadcasts for over a year, and TNA maintains that he has a huge UK fan base. But in reality, he is struggling to get over.

Huh? Magnus has a hard time getting over? Didn't he get a great reaction when he's the tag champ with Joe?

Yes. But a huge reason for that is because Joe was so over. Joe has been a jobber pretty much since Hogan came in, but yet he remains on of the most over guys there.

Have you noticed how rarely Magnus is ever in a singles match? TNA repeatedly shove wrestlers that they want to get over into talking segments, tag team matches and battle royals until they improve. Then the talents of the other wrestlers will make them look better. Lacey Von Erich only had ONE singles match in her TNA run!

Now if Magnus spent more time improving his in-ring skills opposed to his microphone skills, he will get over. The main problem people have with him is that they are trying to turn him into the next Randy Orton by treating him like he is Randy Orton.

Magnus has major heat in the UK. And it is rare for ANY TNA wrestler to have heat in the UK.

The UK recently relaunched their version of American Gladiators. The original UK version was so good that other countries copied it and hired our performers for their own shows. But the new series was a blatant copy of the American Gladiators series that Hulk Hogan hosted. Magnus featured in both series as Oblivion, the leader of the Gladiator team. On every single episode, he gave a rambling pro wrestling style promo, but maintained the worst win-loss record of all of the gladiators. Games were even rigged in his favour, and he still lost to the untrained contestant most of the time.

The funny thing is, Mason Ryan was in the second season, and was more succesful on all fronts.
