Shad Gaspard's wife has spoken more about his arrest, telling TMZ.com it was racial profiling. Siliana Gaspard says that Shad didn't try to resist when a cop tried to arrest him for jaywalking on the way to the the Arnold Fitness EXPO. She said that Shad got to a kneeling position to show he wasn't resisting and got shoved face-first into the dirt anyway.

"They are profiling him," she said. "He's being treated like a n****r."

Shad was with UFC fighter Josh Barnett, who posted support for Shad on his Twitter:

Shad Gaspard arrested because a Columbus officer abuses his authority. False jaywalking charge + attitude turns to handcuffs and tackling.

Law enforcement claims Shad was arrested for resisting arrest and obstructing official business. Video of the arrest is expected to surface later today.

This is a disgrace, and seems like they are targeting because of his status and race. Damn corrupt feds.

As we've been reporting here on the website, former WWE star Shad Gaspard was arrested for resisting arrest and obstructing official business on Sunday while in Columbus, OH for the Arnold Fitness EXPO. Gaspard's wife originally claimed it was a jaywalking incident that turned into a case of racial profiling.

TMZ has posted video of Shad Gaspard's arrest. MMA fighter Josh Barnett shot the footage, which begins just after Gaspard was taken to the ground. Shad can be heard saying, "Why am I being arrested? Because I'm big and I'm black?" One of the officers claims that he was resisting arrest. Shad feels that he is the victim of racial profiling, and that he will fight this.

In an update on this, Sgt. Rich Weiner of the Columbus Police Department told TMZ that Gaspard was spotted by an officer standing in the road and in the way of oncoming traffic. He told TMZ that Gaspard was belligerent and ignored requests from the officer to move out of the street and also refused to show his ID when asked numerous times.

Sgt. Weiner says that when the officer tried to arrest Shad, he "broke free from the officers as they attempted to take him into custody." Wiener then says the video that is posted online doesn't show the events leading up to him being thrown to the ground and then placed in handcuffs. Several onlookers tried to tell police that he did nothing wrong but cops were not having any of it and continued on with the arrest.

Shad on the other hand feels differently. In an exclusive update, I spoke to them this morning and his version of the events is as follows. Gaspard claims one of his friends was nearly hit by a car. His friends started yelling at the driver while Shad stood on the sidewalk. He says that's when an officer approached and told his friends to quit the yelling. Shad came over and tried to explain to the responding officer that he had just witnessed a near hit-and-run. This is where things took a turn for the worse. Shad was already ticked off at what he had witnessed and was asked by the officer on-scene for his ID. Gaspard questioned why as he didn't do anything wrong and was just looking out for another person. When he refused to show ID, he was asked to put his hands behind his back. Shad claims he then squatted down as to not intimidate the cop due to his stature and the cop tackled him anyway. As noted above, Shad feels he was treated unfairly and claims he's not going to stand by while cops disrespect him. He says you can expect a lawsuit shortly and they have spoken to an attorney today.

Shad is also telling TMZ he feels he's the victim of racial profiling -- and claims during his ride to the police station, he heard the arresting officer saying, "He's just one more ..." Shad added, "I don't know exactly what to do yet, but I will fight this as much as possible. I'm not doing it for the money, I have the means, I'm doing this so cops don't think they can do this to someone else ... it's not right."

Hm..kinda breaking news:
UFC has purchased Strikeforce.

Strikeforce to stay as Strikeforce will be ran by Scott Cooker. Cross promotion is possible now.

More details to come.

WTF??? Thats huge news. I was hoping they would remain there own entities.. Im feeling and really not hoping they dont go the way like WWE did when they bought WCW and bury the wrestlers on TV. I know this is real, so doubt it!! It opens tons of dream matches too, if they had a dream card. Overeen vs Lesnar, Cung Le vs BJ Penn, King Mo vs Rashad Evans. TONS!!!!

Apparently it wont affect the Strikeforce programing or how things currently are. In a way its a good thing. Talent could be traded between companies and it will give Strikeforce much need security. There are tons of dream matches, but doubt we will see them just yet.

Here are some more notes on the sale of Strikeforce to Zuffa (UFC)…

* On Monday, UFC is scheduled to have a press conference to answer questions regarding the purchase.

* There were two entities interested in purchasing Strikeforce but yhe UFC made the stronger money offer. It looks as if the UFC was aware of the first deal in place and in either late November or early December decided they were going after it. Negotiations have gone on since that time.

* Some feel the purchase is not a good thing for the fighters as they can't play two sides against each other in contract negotiations.

* There are already people looking at trying to get venture capitalists together thinking they can now be that rival brand.

* The sale is not considered good news if you're a woman fighter.

I know man, im pissed!! I so prefer EA MMA over the UFC game. Its a shame really as they were onto a good thing with the game and I agree Dana is way more shreud of a businessman than Vince is. I felt Strikeforce were real competition for UFC and atleast it would give fans a choice. Now we are stuck with a similar thing to WWF buying out WCW. :(

Bobby Lashley, Phil Baroni Throw Down Tonight on HDNet
IMG_2025.jpg

Seven months after his unexpected loss to Chad Griggs at Strikeforce: Houston, WWE-star-turned-MMA-fighter Bobby Lashley will return to action tonight in the main event of Titan Fighting Championships 17 at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas. Though Lashley was originally supposed to face off against James Jack, Jack mysteriously went M.I.A. and has been replaced with an equally-obscure fighter named John Ott, an 8-7 journeyman who has primarily competed at middleweight and light-heavyweight. Yesterday, Ott weighed in at 215.4 pounds for the heavyweight contest, against Lashley’s 252.4. It is what it is.

Also on the card, Phil Baroni will look to break a three-fight losing streak against the comparatively unseasoned Nick Nolte, while Abe “Sylvia Killer” Wagner clashes with Strikeforce/Bellator vet Aaron Rosa. The event will be broadcast tonight on HDNet starting at 10 p.m., following “The Voice vs. Wanderlei Silva” at 8 p.m. and Inside MMA at 9. Here’s the Titan FC 17 televised lineup, according to their Facebook page:

-MAIN EVENT-
HEAVYWEIGHT- Bobby Lashley vs. John Ott

-MAIN CARD (TELEVISED)-
185 lbs.- Phil Baroni vs. Nick Nolte

HEAVYWEIGHT- Abe Wagner vs. Aaron Rosa

135 lbs.-Anthony Gutierrez vs. Jon Hollis

150 lbs.- Eric Marriott vs. William DeSouza

155 lbs.- Aaron Derrow vs. Alonzo Martinez

170 lbs.- Isidro Gonzalez vs. Travis Sveum

155 lbs- James Krause vs. Nathan Schut

Last night at Titan Fighting Championships 17, Bobby Lashley (5-1) fought for the first time since his loss to Chad Griggs (10-1) on August 21st, 2010.

Lashley, a heavyweight, fought John Ott (8-6), who was a late replacement, and normally a middleweight (185lb) fighter. Lashley could not finish Ott, but did pick up the unanimous decision victory (29-27 30-27 29-27) in what was described as an "underwhelming performance".

-- Brock Lesnar recently spoke to MMAJunkie.com about coaching the upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter. Check out the highlights:

On getting invested in the show: "When you're forced to be around people ... I wanted the best for the guys. I just found myself getting invested for them guys to win and be successful."

On getting attached to the competitiors: "There's a point in the show where we put in a lot of time with a certain individual, and there's some success that builds into it. So yeah, you get attached in some ways. But do I have anybody on speed dial? No."

On his team: "I tried to influence them. It really is a short period of time that you've got these guys. You've really got to manage your time well with them. Five-and-a-half weeks is a short period of time, and there's a lot of fighting going on in that period. So if these guys bring bad habits to the table or they lack experience in one area, you've got to be pretty creative and figure that out really fast."

On his team's size: "Fighting is fighting. These lighter guys move a lot faster, but still the basic fundamentals to fighting are pretty much the same. Some guys came into the show with different areas that they were stronger in, and I was able to give them some more wrestling."

On relating to his team: "I'm not too much older than some of these guys. They're just at a different level. These guys are one-in-a-million guys that wanted to make it to the next level, and they got an opportunity, just as I got an opportunity from (UFC president) Dana (White) to be a fighter. So they have to fight for it and earn it because they are not a household name. To relate ... I don't find any in it. But there's one thing in common with all fighters. They want to be the best they can be an excel in what they do. So I can relate to them in that respect."

On whether he would do it again: "I was there to do a job. My job was to be the coach for 'The Ultimate Fighter.' We had a great group of guys. It was a good opportunity for me to learn, as well, and I probably wouldn't do it again. But I did enjoy it."

-- Junior Dos Santos recently spoke to MMAJunkie.com about Brock Lesnar & TUF 13. Here are the highlights…

On Brock & The Media: "Brock is so used to the media spotlight and being in front of the cameras, and he's such a ... professional guy."

On Brock Bringing Fans To MMA: "Brock is a guy that's bringing a lot of fans into MMA, (and) he's a guy that's very well known in the U.S. [I'm] a guy who's starting to come up right now, and this is a great opportunity for all of my fans to be able to see me."

On Nogueira's Advice: "[Nogueira] said just to act like myself," Dos Santos said. "He said the first week will be the most difficult, and then I'm just (going to) get the hang of it, and I felt that's exactly what happened."

On His Thoughts On Brock: "It's hard to say what my impression was of Brock because I didn't know him before, but after getting to know him on the show ... he's actually a pretty nice guy."

Dos Santos is gonna destroy Brock IMO, he has amazing striking ability.

Quote:

In spite of the fact that both former PRIDE champions are from completely different weight classes, it looks like a proposed bout between Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Dan Henderson and former pound-for-pound king Fedor Emelianenko has been agreed to in principle by both fighters.
According to a report by MMAFighting that cites Henderson’s manager Aaron Crecy as well as “a source with knowledge of the situation” and an unnamed rep from M-1 Global, Hendo and “The Last Emperor” have both said they would accept the fight if offered.
Crecy told Mike Chiappetta that reps from Strikeforce asked Henderson whether he would be willing to take the non-title bout at a 220-pound catchweight and that his client told them he would take the fight no matter what weight it was contested at.
“Dan has indicated he’d love to have the fight and he hasn’t shied away from that. He’d love to have the fight, and have it at heavyweight. He’s happy to challenge Fedor there. It’s a fight that can only be good for the fans, the promotion and fighters. Two icons, two legends of the sport. There’s no reason not to do it,” Crecy explained. “Dan certainly wants it from his end, he’s saying he wants the fight and he wanted to leave no reason for Fedor not to accept it. He’s not asking for a catch weight or 205. We’re not involved with the dialogue on other side. That’s between Strikeforce and M-1. We have respect for Fedor & M-1 management and we’re optimistic something will be worked out. If M-1 and Strikeforce work out what they need to work out, Dan will be excited to take the fight.”
According to Evgeni Kogan the anonymous M-1 source, the only thing left to hammer out would be the date and location of the event.
“It looks like [Henderson] wants the fight, and Fedor wants it, too,” he said.
Quote:

When Dan Henderson tweeted a link to the above video interview with his boys at Clinch Gear Radio earlier today and promised it contained the “real deal” about his potential fight with Fedor Emelianenko, we didn’t exactly expect a bombshell. Didn’t get one, either, as Hendo and Co. spend most of the 10:45 talking about the Zuffa, LLC acquisition of Strikeforce and his light heavyweight title victory over Rafael Feiajo. When the topic does finally turn to the rumored superfight with Emelianenko, Henderson says he’d be all for it, with one sort of surprising caveat: He says he wouldn’t take the fight if it is offered to him at 220-pounds.
Nope, as if to confirm his status as an all-around badass, Hendo sounds like he wants no part of such made-up nonsense, he’ll take Fedor at heavyweight or not at all. Watch the vid if you don’t believe us. “It would be an honor to fight him and if I did fight him, there would be no catchweight,” Henderson says. “I don’t do those at all. If I’m going to fight him at his weight, I’m going to fight him at his weight … I wouldn’t take the fight if it was at a catchweight.”
