<blockquote class='quote\\_blockquote'><dl><dt>Quote:</dt><dd> </dd></dl><div>The UFC has been making big moves and today they just announced another one.

MMA's preeminent promotion has signed former Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem to a multiple-fight contract, with his first bout to come against former UFC heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar. Shortly after the deal and the fight were announced, Overeem spoke with MMAFighting.com's Ariel Helwani, revealing how it came about and what the whole thing means to him personally.

"I got offered to fight for the championship belt but that would mean I had to wait, because of course dos Santos is fighting Velasquez Nov. 12, it's going to be a great fight, then probably these guys are going to need some healing time, relaxing time, so November plus six months, that will probably be May," said Overeem. "I'm a fighter, I like to be active, so then some names came rolling out and Brock Lesnar was among them and I think it's a dream match-up. The fans wants to see it; I want to see it. I'm very excited about this fight, so I immediately said yes."

Overeem has accomplished more in MMA and earned more titles than most fighter ever will, but he's currently looking at today as the crowning moment of his decorated career.

"Honestly, it feels like one of the biggest days in my life, a sort of life-changing thing," he said. "UFC is really big, they just did the FOX deal, you have all these possible match-ups happening right now, so for me, it's a very exciting time, the team is very excited, UFC people are very excited." Im very excited. This could be the end for Brock imo.. Brock is hugely marketable and draws, but if he loses I can see it the end for him.. His health is still in jeopardy, even though he is in recovery now..
