There have been matches that the fans were always dreaming of but when they actually happened they were disappointing , for example goldberg vs lesnar that many people didn't like.
What matches do you think can fit into this category ?
Note : this can be a match that has already happened , or may happen , or will never happen (includes a deceased wrestler )

I recently bought the unreleased collection of Hogan on dvd, and it had a match from Nitro featuring Bret vs Hogan, and it's pretty awful.
Not really over-rated, but I see what you're getting at.

Over-rated dream match?

Rock vs. Cena. Easily.

Not overrated but could have ended better. Kurt Angle vs Samoa Joe. There first match was awesome but it just got stale in there 2nd and 3rd match. They should have just left it as one match, let Joe go over and Joe may have been a bigger monster now, while Kurt Angle would have not lost any cred and still been over.

Rock vs Hogan at Wretlemania 18, two of the most overrated performers in the business. People remember the dueling crowd chants more than the actual match itself.

For me , and to open up the discussion about matches that didn't happen (yet) , and i know i might get hated for this , its sting vs undertaker , people have been asking for it for so long and it would have been good if it sting performed like he did 10 years ago , right now he is very limited in the ring and his matches are under 10 minutes with very limited moves , the undertaker (as much as he has gotten older over the past few years) he can still deliver show stealing matches , sting vs undertaker can never out do the past 4 matches (undertaker vs hhh , hbk)

I don't remember ANY dueling crowds, just the crowd vs The Rock. The crowd wasn't divided, they knew exactly who they wanted to see killed that night: Dwane fuckin' Johnson. The were united under the greatest intangible force in professional wrestling history: Hulkamania. The 6th man of our great sport.

No, they are not great in ring scientists, no, they don't have the most versatile move sets, but Hulk Hogan always admitted it. His power, came from the Hulkamaniacs. It was an intangible force known only as Hulkamania, though no one could explain quite what it was, what it did, or how it worked..... Wrestlemania X8 proved it's unrelenting existence.

Hulkamania was real, Hulkamania was surging through that entire crowd at levels not seen since the 80's... and Hulkamania was running wild, after years of remaining in hibernation.

Hulk Hogan is not a professional wrestler, I'll admit it. He's got three punches, a boot and a leg drop.

Hulk Hogan is the man, Hulk Hogan is an immortal figure of Americana, and Hulk Hogan is god, because he does absolutely nothing, and gets EVERYTHING in return. His finger wave is more powerful than a thousand codebreakers.

Cupping that ear > Sharpshooter. Just ask the buyrates. :p

note: No, I don't believe Hogan is better than Bret in any way, just playing devil's advocate.

For me, The most overrated dream match of the current era is Triple H VS Brock Lesnar. A lot of hype in this match, But sadly, The match doesn't live up the expectation from all of us (Well, NOT all of us, To be exact).

And another "Overrated" dream match of the current era (My opinion) is The Rock VS John Cena. Well, This match is too overrated. I know, This match is the key factor of WrestleMania 28 Successful (Well, Successful in terms of the money that the WWE gained from this PPV, To be exact), But for me, It's still too overrated.
