There is a speculation that there will be one less title match at Night Of Champions.
The WWE website no longer lists the United States Championship match as happening at NOC. Shield leader Dean Ambrose was due to defend the title against Dolph Ziggler. There is even an article looking at potential winners of every match, but does not mention the Ambrose/Ziggler clash.
There is no reason given for the change, or even an announcement noting a postponement. For now, it can be assumed that the match is off.
There is a rumour that Ziggler is being punished for comments he made in an interview. Ziggler claimed that Triple H and the McMahons had been backing Randy Orton for 11 years, not days (which it was in story line). He also said suggested that Orton had been given too many chances over the years and that the company kept "backing the wrong guy". It is worth nothing that this is the EXACT story line that Ziggler was involved with on television at the time.
Ziggler has been buried on television with a series of beatdowns and being squashed by mightier opponents. This was the scripted plan, and not sufficient evidence that he was being punished. However, the title match being cancelled offers some legitimacy to the rumours.
This is the second NOC match involving the Shield which has been nixed. The Shield were originally meant to be defending the WWE Tag Team Championship against Big Show and Mark Henry. But the match was cancelled after Henry sustained an injury. Now the Shield will face the winner of the 'Tag Team Turmoil' gauntlet on the NOC pre-show.
