Picture/image file types?

Hate to sound like a broken record, but my apologies is this is not posted in the correct forum. I have a question regarding images/file types used in the various mods -
If I wanted to alter some of the various images and pictures used in some of the mods, what type of file would I save them as (for example, if in the menu selection, I wanted it to still say "exhibition", but with a different font?) I know how to extract the image to a photo editor or paint program, but I'm not sure what type of file to save it as as it pertains to transparency, laced or non-interlaced, and whatnot. I don't really care to mess with actual characters textures or anything, really just a few minor cosmetic alterations in the menu screen.

Save them as PNG in photoshop is the way to go.

Make sure you replace the files you are editing in PNG and you have replaced the correct file you are replacing bro.

Also another tip. When you "save as" the file in PS. Make sure you select " Interlaced.
