The planned feud between Ryback and Rob Van Dam will not be going ahead.
Part of the reason is because Rob Van Dam will not be back until WrestleMania season. It would be difficult to fit in a feud without rushing it. They also intend for both men to be strong at WrestleMania XXX, but they will not be competing against each other.
The main reason is because the WWE did not expect the current angle with Ryback to do so well. Fans have gotten behind his bullying character, and Ryback becoming a "Paul Heyman Guy". Also, the writers feel that Ryback would be the best opponent for Undertaker at WrestleMania. They love the idea of Heyman trying to avenge Punk's loss at WrestleMania, and Ryback with his "I hate bullies" routine making him a better fit than Brock Lesnar.
Van Dam's gimmick of being someone who stands up to bullies did not get over like WWE hoped it would. Van Dam was also supposed to be a part of the Be A Star program, with Ricardo Rodriguez filling in for him during his time off. But as the gimmick never took hold, and Van Dam has yet to do any work with Be A Star. Therefore, "the anti-bully" Van Dam vs "the bully" Ryback would not work so well.
There is a plan for Ryback to take on CM Punk in a Hell In A Cell match at the HIAC pay-per-view, regardless of the result of their match at Battleground. But it could also be dropped as there are currently 4 ideas being thrown about for HIAC matches at the show. But the WWE will not be doing a full show of HIAC matches.
