Kassius Ohno has been released from his contract, and has gone back to using his old name of Chris Hero.

Even though Hero was only released yesterday evening (Friday), he has already confirmed 3 appearances for different shows this month. There is no official reason as to why Hero was released, but there are a LOT of rumours.

The release comes as a surprise as they were recently planning to bring Hero onto the main roster. Hero has consistently impressed agents, and he fits the larger body-shape that the WWE wants to promote. But at the same time, he fits into the “negative” demographic. The WWE wants to make new stars that feel like the WWE is their only chance to make it big. Hero has already had a long and successful career on the independent scene. The fact that so many companies are looking to book him proves that he will be alright without the WWE.

Hero was instructed by Triple H to work on improving his physique. After learning that Hero was reluctant, he was taken off shows for a few weeks. He only recently returned.

The rumours range from allegations that he earned a Wellness Policy violation, agents hate his attitude and Hero simply asked for his release. But none of these rumours can be confirmed at this time.

EDIT: Partial credit to KWG for reporting the story first.

If he does, it will be after the "No Compete" clause runs out in February. He isn't allowed to work for companies with TV or pay-per-view shows until then. But I imagine it will happen. He is insanely in demand already.
