Former WWE and WCW World Champion Randy Poffo, aka "Macho Man" Randy Savage, died today in a car accident in Tampa, Florida at the age of 58.

According to an update to the story on TMZ.com, "Savage was driving his 2009 Jeep Wrangler when he veered across a concrete median through oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a tree."

The site reported that Savage was transported to Largo Medical Center, where he died from his injuries. His wife Lynn, with whom he shared his one-year wedding anniversary earlier this month, was also in the car with Savage but survived with minor injuries. She was transported to a different local hospital, where she was treated.

Officials told TMZ that both Randy and Lynn were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident, and alcohol was NOT a factor. An investigation into the accident is underway.

The gossip website spoke to Savage's brother, Lanny Poffo, who said that Savage suffered a heart attack this morning at 10 AM when he lost control of his vehicle.

Savage had celebrated his 1-year anniversary with wife Lynn earlier this month."

I had the honour of meeting him @ the first wrestling show i ever attented in my life back in the 80s, unlike some he didn't just sign something & send you on your way. I spoke with him for a few minutes & he even signed a pic and sent it home with me for my lttle brother who couldn't attend , because he was sick that day. & he wasn't asked to do that either.

Thank You Macho Man For Everything You Gave Us.

God I'm soo sad about this as RR broke the news to me before I read this today, I PRAY that I don't anger people but I WISH these people flashing these devil signs would just stop. This is the reason I all but stopped watching wrestling because I'm sick if seeing these devil signs, and when the people that flash these signs end up in a situation like this THEN we pray to the Lord FOR the one that Flashed these signs against him, but THEY KNOW GOD said WORSHIP NONE BEFORE ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I HOPE THIS sends a POWERFUL MESSAGE to ALL that 's doing these signs, because when something similar to THIS HAPPENS, they WONT scream out OOH DEVIL...THEY'LL SCREAM OUT OOH GOD!!!!!
I LOVE you Randy"Macho Man" Savage and my family and I THANK YOU for all you've went through to PLEASE US and to make us happy, MAY the one that brought you here(GOD)have mercy on your soul. I love you Macho and I wish you and your family peace, love and understanding in this very difficult time. God Bless you and ALL that LOVED YOU.

Quote:

There are conflicting reports on whether WWE will honor Randy Savage next week on television following his tragic passing Friday morning in Seminole, Florida.

According to one source, the production team was ordered to work on a video piece honoring the wrestling legend for inclusion on next week's television programming.

Another source noted that the organization would pay tribute to him in some form at this Sunday's Over the Limit pay-per-view event in Seattle, Washington. However, they now say that no tribute is planned for Savage, at least for Sunday. As of now, something is expected to air Monday on RAW.

Meanwhile, WWE.com posted a video dedicated to the wrestling legend's memory, as well as several photos and clips highlighting his extravagant career. The video package is from WWE's 2009 DVD release Randy Savage: Macho Madness.

Savage died Friday morning in Seminole, Florida after a head-on collision with a tree. Lanny Poffo, his brother, says the accident occurred after Savage suffered a heart attack while driving his 2009 Jeep Wrangler. We've also learned that Randy was pronounced dead before his arrival to the hospital. He was 58 years old.[/quote]

:bender: I expect a big tribute for Macho man. This guy was a true legend and deserves the great send-off for all the wonderful memories he gave us.

Im have no words to describe how much of a loss this is to wrestling. Though he could not actually perform in the ring, his presence was amazing and fun to be apart of. Randy savage had so many wonderful matches and feuds and never let us down.

R.I.P dude OOHHHH YHHHHH!! :'( :'(

An autopsy was completed yesterday on Randy Savage and the cause of death is still "pending," reports TMZ.com.

TMZ.com adds that the Medical Examiner in Pinellas County, Florida did not notice "extensive trauma" to his body while conducting the autopsy.

Toxicology results are expected to be released in four to six weeks. It was previously reported that the police didn't suspect that drugs or alcohol were involved.

Savage died in a car accident Friday in Seminole, Florida when his 2009 Jeep Wrangler veered across a concrete median, through oncoming traffic, and "collided head-on with a tree."

Savage was pronounced dead at Largo Medical Center while his wife Barbara Lynn suffered minor injuries.

This is the saddest of the deaths we've suffered in the past years for wrestling in general. Let's recap the main ones:

2008: Chris Benoit, Sensational Sherri, Earthquake
2007: Test (Not entierly sure if I have the year right. Was 09 or 07.)
2005: Eddie Guerrero.
2003: Road Warrior Hawk

and of course, 2011: Savage :(

This makes me wonder whos next. But my prayers and deepest sypmathies go out to his wife Lynn and brother, Lanny "The Genius" Poffo.
