This Wrestlemania is special, though it comes to me and my friends in the wake of great loss.
Last year, we were all united at NWA-FSW, the wrestling school I attended. We not only were getting better by the day, but we had already confirmed Austin Aries for our first local show!
But then, just a few days after being accepted into medical school, our head trainer "Shamus the Famous" was feeling dizzy, and decided to see a doctor.
The doctor found an inoperable tumor on his brain stem. He had three months to live, he made it damn near six.
Shamus was actually signed to WWE developmental in Deep South Wrestling, he signed his contract the same day as his work-out partner, someone you have all come to know as Kofi Kingston. If he would have never suffered his original concussion that sent him back to Montana, who knows, today may have been his first ever Wrestlemania appearance.
I miss my friend very much, especially today, a Wrestlemania he was excited about, and would have loved to see. I cried this morning thinking about my friend, and how much less fun the world is without him.
You may recognize the man in the top right corner that Shamus is taking an elbow from, it's MVP.
Rest in peace, Shamus, you were a hero to all of us in FSW, and I just know that if there is another life after this, you are truly a champion there.
