<big><big>Robocop</big></big>
Before the movie :
I really liked the first movie and even if i don't consider this a must see i think the character of Robocop is known by almost everyone, you may not have seen any movie you'll know the character. A reboot didn't interest me at all because i feared it would be too clean and chidren orientated.
Movie Plot :
In the near future, Omnicorp is a society creating robot soldiers for the US army that are used to maintain peace around the world but a law forbids the use of these machines on the US territory.
To get around this law and please the public opinion the Omnicorp CEO, Sellars, decides to create a human/machine hybrid to use it on the US territory and get the law to be abroged by the congress. He asks Dr Norton to work on that.
In the meantime Alex Murphy is a cop who is severely injured in the explosion of his car bombed on the oreders of Vallon, a local crime boss.
Murphy will be transformed into a man/machine, Robocop but before the press conference supposed to announce him he is overwhelmed by emotions and Norton will have to modify is brain to remove all emotions.
Alex Murphy will try to take control of his body back, Norton's consciousness will be torn between the science progress he just made and his sense of ethics.
My impressions :
+ The opening scene with Novak (Samuel L Jackson). He hosts a show doing propaganda for Omnicorp.
+ The new armor(black). I know some people screamed at it saying it's not what he is supposed to look like, but let's be honest, if they kept the metallic one i think it would have looked weird because the way we see robots nowadays has evolved since the late 80s.
+ The first time we see Murphy without the armor.
- When we see what Robocop sees. In the 80s it may have looked cool and futuristic but now it just felt like i was looking someone playing a FPS like SW Republic Commando.
- I couldn't care less about the scenario.
- The action scenes are...meh. It doesn't have to be epic but in general there is at least one badass action scene or one driven by emotions in a movie but here i can't remember anything like that.
- Fuck science, love saves the day because it helps to move forward in the story. Even Dr Norton notices it in the movie.
To conclude, the movie wasn't as awful as i thought it would be but damn, it was far from great to me. It's still a decent entertainment to see with friends and the friends i went to see the movie with liked the movie so maybe it's just me bitching a bit too much but i wouldn't tell anyone to run to the cinema for this movie.
