Several current roster members have told WWE management that they want released from their contracts.
They have warned that unless they are given much bigger roles on television, and just in general, they will leave immediately after WrestleMania. Some are so upset that they have already looked at possible options outside of the wrestling industry.
They are frustrated because the WWE has been focusing so much television and pay-per-view time to inactive and non-wrestling personalities. Generally speaking, wrestlers make more money from matches on televised shows than at house shows. A huge portion of the roster are only just making enough money to get by on, especially as they pay their own car rental, flights and hotel expenses. And wrestlers who have less time on television, or constantly lose on television, are less marketable and bring in less money.
They are also annoyed with WWE management constantly breaking promises to them regarding the current direction of the product. They are unhappy that they work at least 240 matches in a year, but The Rock and Brock Lesnar are both paid phenomenal sums of money for one-off appearances throughout the year. While their matches have increased pay-per-view buyrates and brought in major profits to the company, the rest of the employees have seen very small bonuses in relation to this.
The recent talk of rehiring older stars to "improve" the product has come as an insult to these stars. They feel like they have been working hard, but have received no recognition for it. And now the lack of success withing the company is being blamed on them, and not bad booking.
They all said that they will leave just after WM29, unless they see positive changes.
