This is probably the most obscure AKI thing I've come across since realizing Hogan's trunks are in VPW2 and realizing Tiger Mask 2 in VPW2 is actually Kanemaru.
When you equip the mask to Eddie Guerrero, you expect that when he is unmasked, it would be Eddie's face underneath. This is what happens with all masked characters, who usually have unique faces. Even Misawa's Tiger Mask has his face underneath. However, upon ripping his mask off, you can clearly see it is a version of Johnny Ace's visage underneath (the textures are converted to the original VPW dimensions for comparison).
As a bonus, Muta's face is just really fucked up in general, but without facepaint, he straight up looks like a tengu or something.
Semi-bump for discussion.
So I only recently figured out the Sting can also be unmasked/unpainted(?), same as Muta. He's got a very strange condition. If you unmask whatever facepaint he has on, his unmasked texture corresponds to the wrong masked texture. I don't have an image to demonstrate, but I can explain.
If Sting has his Crow facepaint, removing his facepaint reveals remnants of his blue Surfer facepaint.
If Sting has his blue Surfer facepaint, removing his facepaint reveals remnants of his orange and yellow Surfer facepaint.
If Sting has his orange and yellow Surfer facepaint, removing his facepaint reveals remnants of his red and white facepaint.
If Sting has his red and white Surfer facepaint, removing his facepaint reveals remnants of his Crow facepaint.
"Sting"/Fake Sting from WCW/nWo World Tour, unsurprisingly, shares the exact same unmasked texture as the original Sting, but it's the correct color as he only has one head (Sting has 4).
In Muta's case, the red facepaint I posted earlier is his only unique unmasked texture. Removing his other facepaint reveals Keiji Mutoh's face underneath. Interestingly enough, the red unmasked texture matches Mutoh's hair perfectly, whereas the other unmasked textures do not. However, the other textures perfectly match Mutoh's face, while the red texture perfectly matches the facepainted texture (I'm not sure if anyone understands what I'm saying, but I'll post an image later).
