Quote:

Speaking to WWE Magazine, Steve Austin responds to Brock Lesnar telling ESPN.com during a recent interview promoting WWE ’12 that he was “downright scared” to face him on the June 10, 2002 Raw (Austin balked facing Lesnar, feeling the marquee bout lacked proper buildup. Ultimately, he declined to attend Raw, briefly leaving WWE).

Austin responds, “It wasn’t a Brock issue at all. It was a stupid business decision, and I flew off the handle. I was wound up pretty tight at the time. I thought they [WWE] were poking me with a stick, and I admittedly handled that in the worst possible way. It never had anything to do with Brock Lesnar—it was just a stupid business decision, and although I handled it wrong, there wasn’t anyone in that company who can tell me it was a smart move to me in that match with no build and blow a total marquee pay-per-view or rivalry that could have lasted God knows how long!

“I don’t have any problems with anything Brock said. He’s got his take on things. And anytime you can flap your gums and stir things up—well, I’m always about that.”[/quote]

If Brock ever broke his neck, he would feel sorry for himself.

When Austin broke his neck, he felt sorry for the bastards that thought his career was over.

I have less respect for Brock than I have for the Rock.

Sure, the Rock had everything handed to him, and he walked away from the business after 5 years, and tried to use his success to build is career in other mediums, becoming a millionaire at the expence of wrestling fans.

But Brock did the same in a much shorter space of time.

Kurt Angle and Goldberg are the only men who managed to beat Brock cleanly. Brock main-evented WrestleMania in his rookie year. He won the KOTR, Royal Rumble and 3 major championships inside 2 years. Hulk Hogan, Kurt Angle, the Dudley Boyz, Undertaker, Big Show, Booker T, Chris Jericho, Rob Van Dam and even THE ROCK put him over.

The one guy who didn't put Brock over? Triple... I mean, Steve Austin.

I think that Brock was given enough, especially considering how little he gave back. I mean, he allowed WWE to pay him millions of dollars to feature him in ONE video game since leaving the company. How generous Brock. Why didn't the Rock think of that.

So Austin didn't build his career over decades just to be retired by Brock. Get over it, Brock.

I remember when Austin went to ECW, Paul Heyman wanted him to have the title right off the bat. But Austin himself said no. It would add more to the championship if he really had to fight for it. Mikey Whipwreck won the grand slam before beating Austin, but beating Austin was his defining career moment. And when Sandman beat Austin to the title, that put the Sandman on another level. In the end, Austin never did win the ECW title. But the few months he spent chasing it made the title seem more important. The fact that Austin never won it ADDS to the title's prestige. Especially when Terry Funk and Jimmy Snuka both did, but Austin came up short.

He retired almost 10 years ago, but people still remember Brock's reign of terror. Did not having a match with Austin tarnish that? Not one bit.

The truth is, I don't think Brock got over Goldberg beating him in their match, an idea pushed by Austin. If Brock did get back in the wrestling ring, I can't trust him to NOT try and actually hurt someone. He knows that Austin is not in the right shape to give him a proper fight, so he would be an easy target. What would anyone gain from seeing Brock intentionally hurt Austin? NOTHING.

Brock had one hell of a (brief) run. He should be thankful for what he received, and stop blaming other people for him not getting more. He accuses Austin of leaving when he got scared. How was Brock's departure any different?
