Drew McIntyre has confirmed on Twitter that he is now officially a US citizen.
McIntyre had previously required temporary work visas in order to work with the WWE. He would have to return to his native Scotland each time his visas or passport needed to be renewed. Every single time that he has done this; there has been some kind of delay which kept him out of the WWE for about a month at a time. In recent years, every Mexican and British star has been subject to delays when getting this renewed. McIntyre does not need to worry about this anymore.
McIntyre’s application for a green card had been denied twice before. The first time was because his WWE contract (at the time) was not deemed secure, and he therefore did not count as full-time employment. The second time was during his brief marriage to TNA Knockout Taryn Tyrrell. He was forced to make a fresh application.
Up until now, McIntyre could have been forced to return to Britain if his contract with WWE ended for any reason.
