Yep, time for that discussion, again. Let's bring all the modders we can into this thread to discuss the reasons why they mod or play whichever game.

I mod No Mercy for a few reasons.

1. It's one of my favorite games of all time.

2. The universal body shapes make more believable looking mods (In my opinion)

3. A bigger color pallet and less mirrored textures make for more visually striking mods (once again, in my opinon)

4. There are more styling options for No Mercy, whether it be AKI, hi-res, cartoony or what have you. I've seen a lot of different styles used, and I like just about them all.

5. The pj.64 emu is primed for modding, I don't have to have a system or even a high powered computer to play/mod/hack No Mercy to the fullest.

6. Every texture can be replaced to make it look like a completely different game, thanks to the texture dumping system and interface hacks.

I also think No Mercy is more fun to play, thus, making me want to mod it more.

No mercy modding is better... simply because even in a basic computer with no privileges... like mine, you can do it.

And yeah... the mirroring part... the only parts of no mercy that are mirrored are The back of the head and feet... and hands if you don't use kane's gloves... and two of them can be easily fixed with simple codes, the other one is harder to fix.

Yeah... the variation of styles is really cool... specially with Rice's plugin... you can add whatever detail you want or effects without the shadowing or the models themselves to ruin what you did. I saw a Delirious mod which was made in a cartoony style and was bloody awesome! and obviously that vintage style of iccotracs is just awesome!

Oh! and our noobs are less annoying lol.

I am not a modder but the thing that i see as an accolade for no mercy over svr is moves hacking(creating moves animations) , i wish that was possible in svr

1.- i like the svr saga
2.- i like the hex editing part
3.- even though the mirroning in textures is a problem you can create high quality mods just look at 80las mods(in wii,ps3 and 360 the texture are complete)
4.- i like how to hack something into the game you need some thinking and research
5.- always liked the look of the arenas
6.- i like the entrances

No Mercy for me. Most of the reasons have already been mentioned, but here's mine:

1. Gameplay. Except for the DOR series, I've never really been able to get into any of the next-gen wrestling games. Especially with move hacking and all sorts of cool gameplay-related hacks, No Mercy never gets old.

2. Hacking. I started off as a simple texture modder but ended up as a hacker, because it's much too addictive! ^o) -- Even after a decade of hacking, there are still so many unexplored areas of this game. And now with PJ1.7 and unlimited cheat slots, there's unlimited potential for all sorts of things. With more than 100 editable polygon slots in the ring area view alone (and editable properties!), you can create any kind of setting you want. If I can create an entire full-scale mountain with 1 polygon slot, think of the things you could do with 10! 50! 100!!
Not only can you faithfully recreate any pro wrestling venue, but you can even branch off into non-wrestling settings, city streets, the wild west, etc, or even expand the backstage area to upwards of 15 different stages/rooms and make 'em any size you want. And that's just on the arena side- there's move hacking, wrestler polygon hacks, gameplay, new match modes, and rom hacking, which has the potential to add even more to this game once we find more ways to make use of it.

3. versatility of texture modding. You can do a faithful recreation of the AKI style, you can go photo realistic, cartoony, or you can create your own modding style. You could also very easily translate the game to other languages by editing the menu textures.

AAA vs CMLL, by my good friend, stalker :toast: [/quote]Yes, I think that was the first translation! I'll be doing the second-- translating all the menus (except the CAW mode) to Japanese

@Imbored: I have to play that save at some point-- It was through some of Imbored's posts and codes that I learned a lot about arena hacking! But that image is a perfect example of what I meant :) Only in NM!

I think as all the NM guys pointed out already NM is just a far more diverse game to edit and even to this day it can still be classed as one of the best wrestling games ever.

On a hacking side of things for me, more so CAW attire hacking, you can still created authentic current wrestlers with time and experimenting with values. Another great factor is the new finds people like WldFb and Jazz have discovered that keeps this game so fresh. I would have never been able to create some of my wrestlers without WldFb's specific attire codes and learning from great past attire hackers. The game began with hacks and still keeps going now.

To be able to make full wrestling saves with mods and being able to make authentic attire hacks and importing moves from other AKI games, makes NM just a league above its own.

Never did like No Mercy ever, I didn't like the look of it then and i don't now. I always felt it was too slow & no matter what, they look like wrestling Lego people, but that's just my thoughts.

As far as hacking goes it can make ANY game better & that;s what i keep reading when people prefer NM, hacking this & that and it took almost ten years to get where it is now.

I'm sure people will say doing some shit on SvR is impossible to do & right now i'm sure it is, but in the beginning they said the same thing about NM.

People should just enjoy what they like & not worry about who's better cause someone will allways disagree with you & that is what makes this gaming fandom great, cause if everyone liked the same thing it would be boring as fuck.

(And before someone says anything i'm not saying either game is better, i'm not a NM fan & i'm not a SvR fan. I'm a wrestling game fan period)
