Textures not dumping

I've done texturing in te past and just started getting back into it. Now i downloaded PJ64 2.1 and i'm using Glide64 and my graphics plugin. Before with Mudlord's, you would just tick the box and hit restore to load your textures and it was pretty simple. My problem comes to actually dumping the textures. They dump like once, then i can't seem to dump anymore. It says to hit "D" to dump and "R" to reload. So when i hit "D" it doesn't dump the textures. It dumped maybe like twice and i've tried a TON of times. Is there a fix to this? or something i'm maybe doing wrong? Thanks

Don't use glide. Use the default plugin.

You'll have to actually tick it in the graphics plugin window when you want to dump.

So i should use Jabo's? I've tried that and the textures don't load from the "textures-load" folder...

Jabos 1.7?

Yeah the texture names are significantly different so you have to redump them with Jabos plugin.

The folder to load from should also be called "textures"

Yeah i switched to Jabo's and now my textures won't load.... I made sure my directory was Project64>Textures.... I've been reading, and it says You load the textures from Project64>Textures>WWF No Mercy. I'm trying currently and they're not loading -_- this has been a frustrating transition to 2.1
WOW.....did it really need to be a lower-case "t" in the word "textures"???? that was my damn problem! haha thanks guys

edit: WOAH wait a minute...... so the textures don't reload when i hit F7? do i have to restart the game every time i wanna see one texture?!

Yup, that's one of the few things I don't like about 2.1.
I would suggest you to switch to 1.7, it's pretty much the same as 2.1 and it will also reload textures once you press CTRL+T and hit enter. :)

So....yeah went to 1.7 and STILL have to exit the emulator then go back in to see my changes. can't just hit F7 like the old days?!

It's the price we pay for a better outcome.

Can you imagine making a whole save this way? Oh wait..... ;)

honestly, i'd rather go back to whatever version i had before.. just hitting F5 then F7 real quick was easy to see if you needed to make a quick edit on an image. This whole "Exiting PJ64, then restarting thing" is ridiculous. Editing textures is gonna take forever this way. There is NO plugin that you can do the quick restore with? BESIDES Rice? cuz that shit sucks. this is driving me insane :explode

Just curious, but besides the textures loading faster, what are the advantages of 2.1 over older versions with respects to No Mercy modding?

were you asking me? my answer would be nothing. i could care less if the textures took 20 seconds to load. thats nothing. i'm currently on 1.7. mine as well be on 2.1!!! its crap if you want to texture... you have to hit F12 to end your rom, then load it back up, and hit F7. they needa make it like Rice's use to be...Just hit F7 and it loads right up. But Rice sucks now, won't even start on mine..

If you just use textures, stick with 1.6.

I am trying to create the largest and most diverse roster in No Mercy. That isn't possible without 2.1. And honestly, the plugin quality is worth it. The textures look too sweet! Worth the extra work.

i suppose ill do that then. couldn't you create the textures with 1.6 and just load them with 2.1?

Yeah, you would have to re dump the ingame textures again to get the names (different names), it doesn't take to long though,
And its worth it in the long run, the shadows from the default 2.1 plugin make it look crisp, hell VPW2/WM2000 retexturing was horrible in 1.6 (Rice) due to the lack of shadows.

Yeah i can definitely see the difference. I'm texturing now in 1.6 using Rice and the colors look so flat now. Just hoping the crashing problem is over with now. This was a pain in the ass to set up

The Rice plugin and 1.6-1.7 stopped working for me all of a sudden one day. I tried starting over on both windows 8 and then went back to 7 and nothing. It either didn't load up or the game crashes on me within maybe 4 minutes tops. So I went all out on 2.1 and it's been great so far. Only drawback is the texturing. I am currently converting all the ICCO style mods to 2.1. If anybody is interested in having those for 2.1 let me know as I have a ton of things converted already.

I'm on Windows 8, and when i run PJ64 in XP capability, it works. 2.1 bugged the HELL outta me, it was just too much of a process for me to texture:/

I think it depends what save you are playing also. For me, in 1.6, the ICCO Legends save 2.0 was the only one that ever worked for me. Every other save either lagged, crashed, or the textures didn't load, but the legends save always worked. On 2.1 I only know of the Showdown save and that one has worked well so far.

Glide works great just hit d to dump and r to load I like glide for texturing it's amazing being able to edit on the fly but playing I like jabo way better.
edit-one thing about glide you gotta turn texture edit mode on then press d to dump and d to stop dumping.

Another draw back to glide is no auto load on textures when game starts you have to hit R every time to load textures like I said great for modding not so great for playing.
