<blockquote class='quote\\_blockquote'><dl><dt>Quote:</dt><dd> </dd></dl><div>Greetings Readers!

It's not quite the end of 2012 but I figured it was best to get this rolling out now, you know, just in case the mayans were right. 2012 has been one of the most interesting years in recent Wrestling history. We've seen the rise of many future stars that will carry their respective brands for a long time to come. We've seen great returns, interesting debuts and a lot of the same ol' same ol'. So allow me now to give you guys a break down of the matches, storylines and superstars that I thought were the best and worst of 2012!

- Best Match of the Year

WWE Wrestlemania XXVIII - Undertaker vs. Triple H

I'll catch heat for this one but I stand by it firmly. A match is more than just the wrestling that takes place. A match consists of three important categories: Pre-Match Story, In-Ring Story and Wrestling action. This match achieved in each of those categories and left many of us tied in emotional knots. A match like this doesn't happen every year and we should be grateful when they do. The only thing that would've made this match better would've been a Taker retirement. Honorable Mention: Austin Aries vs. Bobby Roode (Destination X)

- Most Overrated Match of the Year

TNA Bound for Glory - Austin Aries vs. Jeff Hardy

I'm not saying this was a bad match, it wasn't. I think it would probably crack the Top 15 matches of 2012 list. But the amount of praise this match has received is quite ridiculous. It holds nothing against Daniel Bryan vs. CM Punk at Money In the Bank or Jeff Hardy vs. Austin Aries at Turning Point. With Bound for Glory being TNA's biggest show of the year, this Main Event didn't stack up with the other great Main Events of the year.

- Superstar of the Year

CM Punk

An argument for any other wrestler couldn't be made. As TLC passes with Punk missing from the card, he will have succesfully retained the WWE Championship the entire duration of the year. He's played both heel and face and now enjoys the company of the greatest Wrestling Manager in Wrestling History, Paul Heyman. This has undoubtedly been the year of Punk.

- Rising Star of the Year

Austin Aries

I have a huge bias for Dolph Ziggler, so it was hard for me not to award him on this one. But you simply can't deny the waves that Austin Aries made this year. He's gone from a solid mid-carder to TNA's number one man. It will be Aries who shoulders the weight of TNA over the next few years. And TNA couldn't be any more blessed than to have a talent like Double A on their roster. Honorable Mention: Dolph Ziggler

- Worst Star of the Year

Lord Tensai

The WWE has butchered many characters in the past but not many have faced the same butchery as Lord Tensai. Tensai came in as truly monstrous beast that defeated even the likes of John Cena. His dominance left a weak impact on the fans and the WWE ultimately gave up on his push. Now he's jobbed to some of the biggest chumps the WWE has to offer and we're all left wondering if he'll even have a contract come renewal time.

- Best Return of the Year

Chris Jericho

Everything from the promo videos, the blacked out arena and lighting jacket to the ultimate jeritroll made this return the best of the year.

- Best Storyline of the Year

Team Hell No

Very few storylines stood out to me as good storylines this year so I went with the one I've enjoyed the most. The formation of Team Hell No was nothing short of brilliance. Daniel Bryan and Kane have brought love back for a tag team that I haven't seen in a long time. The anger management meetings, hugs and "I am the tag team champions!" chants have fun to watch and I look forward to seeing how far they can go with it.

- Worst Storyline of the Year

Styles/Daniels/Kazarian/Lynch

By far the absolute worst storyline of the year...I don't even want to dive into it. There is a special category for storylines like this and I imagine that we'll all be speaking of Claire Lynch like we do Katie Vick when some time has passed.

Agree or disagree? Let us know in the comments section below! This is all for this particular column but if you'd like to see more categories, we'll be happy to oblige. Thanks for having me back, WNS Readers!

Considering Aries has been on the independant scene for man than 10 years and was already in TNA once before he returned. I hightly disagree he is "Rising star of the year". Sure, his mic and in-ring work has been good this year and I like his heel character in TNA now, but this guy was just mis-used in TNA before, and only this year they realised he was worth a push.

Surely there is only one man who truly qualifies for return of the year.
