The Hunger Games: Catching Fire MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS

Before the movie :

I've never read the books, saw the first movie in theater when it came out and liked it even if it was a bit slow to start. Went to see the 2nd movie today.

Movie Plot :

After winning the 74th Hunger Games, Katniss and Peeta have to tour to the 12 districts to celebrate their victory. President Snow goes to Katniss and explains how she became an inspiration for people to start a rebellion, he tells her to fake a love story with Peeta and that she had to avoid making more trouble if she doesn't want her relatives to suffer. During the tour, a man in the 11th district whistles the mockingjay thing and raises his hand to salute Katniss, the man is shot down for this rebellious act. Katniss is pissed, later President Snow announces that every 25 years a special Edition of the Hunger Games is held and every tribute is selected among the previous winners. For the District 12 the only female is Katniss so she is the woman representing it, the two men are Peeta and Haymitch, Haymitch is selected but Peeta volunteers to take his place.
They are, once again, in this murderous game with a President more resolute to kill them than ever. How will they survive ? Will they still be inspiring a revolution ?

My impressions :

+ Keep most positive points from the first movie (most of the cast, you don't waste time presenting characters who will die fast, the gray scenery from the districts and the colourful Capitol, the scenery)
+ The costumes look less cheap
+ The part before the Games start is better than in the first movie, we get to see how violence is used to stop the revolution.
+ The end of the movie starts to build what will happen next, neither a happy ending nor a sad one.

- Peeta is annoying.
- The damages caused by the fog at one point is just too easy to heal, it's ridiculous.
- Some dialogues lines are dumb.

To conclude, if you liked the first movie, you'll like this one too. Some people said it was the first movie version 2, i must admit there are similarities in the structure of the movie but there is the political aspect with the rebellion and overall i enjoyed it a bit more than the first movie.

I did cut out one line because it revealed a major plot point. But your reviews continue to get better. And I liked the personal touches to this one. "mockingjay thing", "Kitness is pissed". Never heard Siskel and Ebert saying that stuff!

Some could argue that your line about setting up the next movie is a spoiler. But it is already well known that this is the second part of a trilogy, so obviously it sets up part 3. Also, Amazon already spoiled it. The very starting point of Film 3 is on some of their Kindle adverts.

Yeah, i couldn't find the word i wanted for the "mockingjay thing" to refer to the whistling Katniss and Rue made in the first movie that was sung back by the birds. But overall i don't want to copy/paste the plot or the review from another website, i'd rather write it myself even if i make mistakes or lack a few words, at least i give an honest point of view without pretending i know anything about the way it was filmed or other crap you could read on some sites. I'm just a viewer giving his feeling about the movie.

I'm glad you like the reviews, i'll try to make one for every movie i'll go watch in theater and maybe sometimes on weird movies like i did for Serbian Film. I watched Donnie Darko last week and almost wrote one because i really liked it but i thought the movie might be a little old, but if people are interested i could write reviews on older movies if they are worth it. I just don't want to flood the entertainment section with my reviews.
