Actress Marcia Wallace, famous for a voice role within hit show 'The Simpsons', has recently passed away.

Wallace had been keeping her battle with illness a secret for a long time. She passed away on October 20th at the age of 70. There are no official details on her death other than "she passed peacefully". However, it is speculated to have been cancer-related as he had battled cervical cancer 25 years ago.

Wallace has had a lot of cameo roles in almost 50 different comedy shows, as well as a starring role in several stage shows. Her most famous role is as hardened school-teacher Mrs. Edna Krabappel-Flanders in The Simpsons. Wallace has voiced Bart Simpson's long suffering school teacher since the show began. The November 3rd episode was dedicated to her memory. The opening chalkboard gag was replaced with the heartfelt message, "We'll really miss you, Mrs. K."

The Mrs. Krabappel character will be retired from the show at some point in the future. Wallace had completed voice recordings for several future episodes, which will now be spread out further. She could continue to feature in the show up until Season 26.

Producers will write out the character, but will not kill her off out of respect to Wallace. In the show, Mrs. Krabappel recently became the 3rd wife of Ned Flanders, The Simpsons God-fearing neighbour. Ned's first wife was killed-off after the actress who played her quit the show. Mrs. Krabappel will receive a more dignified send off.
