It has been revealed that wrestling star Bob Ryder is currently dying with cancer.
A man pretending to be ex-TNA star 'Wildcat' Chris Harris originally suggested that it was Harris that had the illness. The impostor reported the story without mentioning Ryder's name, implying that Harris was ill.
The Harris impostor revealed that Ryder had been diagnosed with multiple myeloma late last year. This is a life-threatening form of cancer. He had underwent a stem-cell transplant and will receive a high-dose chemotherapy on Tuesday. His condition is inoperable, meaning that all procedures now are to extend his life as much as possible. This treatment will hopefully kill off the cancerous cells, but it will destroy many of his white blood cells too. This will leave him with no immunity system until his body reproduces enough new white blood cells. Sadly, the cancerous cells will come back after time too. But this treatment could give him several more years.
Harris has been correcting fans on his Twitter page, insisting that all tributes and well-wishes went to Ryder. When WWE Diva AJ Lee said that the news was on his Facebook page, Harris replied that he did not have a Facebook account.
Ryder was one of the men indirectly responsible for starting TNA Wrestling. In 2001, Ryder, Jeff and Jerry Jarrett discussed how the WWE had become the only major professional wrestling franchise. World Championship Wrestling had been bought out by WWE, and Extreme Championship Wrestling had filed for bankruptcy. Ryder noted that no television channel would be willing to promote any professional wrestling company after two major companies shut down. Ryder also suggested that a new company could be effective if it went straight into a weekly pay-per-view format. Even though it was the Jarrett's that carried the idea through, they still credit Ryder equally.
We which Bob Ryder and his family the very best at this difficult time.
