But honestly, how can you fire your top main star? It hurts the business and profits. And who knows what what the board of directors would say?

Seriously this is beyond a joke!

Sure he is one of the biggest stars for WWE, but how many chances can you give the guy?

Slapped wrist IMO.

Also what makes it worse is WWE are publically stating his violation and wrestling fans are not stupid. Favouritism FTW!

How many chances? Countless, I guess - in case of a top superstar. But this can be kayfeb cover for anything else. Like somekind of an injury, or a vacation he asked.

Not likely. A drug test violation is worse than an injury, socially speaking. He and Rey Mysterio are close buddies in real-life, so it is not surprising that Orton got caught so close to Mysterio - Again!

In the 90's, damn near everyone in the locker room was on some sort of crap, I remember Bret Hart even mentioning how the boys in the locker room don't "have as much fun".

Honestly? I don't care as long as they weren't smoking crack.

I'm no Orton fan, but he's money, and isn't going anywhere. As he shouldn't.

I don't give a rat's ass about the wellness program, they should be half as vigilant about steroid use, if you ask me. That is a much more relevant concern.

But that's the point. All of his first three violations have been for steroid abuse! This one is likely to be painkillers.

www.wrestlinginc.com/wi/news/2012/0530/553054/randy-orton/

"Orton had been suspended twice by the company in 2006; in April and in August. Orton's suspension in April 2006 was for 60 days for "unprofessional conduct." Orton apparently openly rolled a marijuana joint backstage at a SmackDown taping in late March of that year, a week prior to WrestleMania. Bruce Prichard found out about the incident and reported it to management. Orton was apparently already in hot water at that point over past infractions prior to the Wellness Policy being put in place, and that action was said to have been the straw that broke the camel's back. While suspended, Orton spent four weeks at an anger management clinic in Atlanta, GA. This apparently did not count as a Wellness Policy violation because the company didn't test for marijuana at the time, and the suspension was viewed more as a conduct violation.

Orton was suspended again in mid-August 2006 for a Wellness Policy violation, which would be considered his first violation. During that period, Orton was involved in a feud with Hulk Hogan which was building towards a match at Summerslam, and he was able to stay on the road and appear on television during that period. Orton was removed from house shows for over a 30 day period from mid-August to mid-September, during which time Orton moved into a new home with his fiancée.

In August of 2007, WWE suspended eleven performers based on information that the company received from investigators in the Albany, NY district attorney's office about contracted talent who were using Signature Pharmacy or another Internet prescription service to obtain performance enhancing drugs over the Internet prior to WWE's implementation of the Wellness Policy. The New York Daily News listed Orton as one of the names who was a customer of Signature Pharmacy.

Sports Illustrated reported that Orton received Somatropin, Nandrolone and Stanozolol through Signature Pharmacy from September 2004 until the firm was busted in February 2007. Stanozolol and Nandrolone are anabolic steroids, while Somatropin is a Growth Hormone drug. Orton, despite being on the Pharmacy list, was not suspended. It was explained at the time that he had already been punished for the matter in the past, so it technically did not count as a Wellness Policy violation for him."

Okay, I stand corrected. TWO out of three have been for steroid abuse.

I was certain that the WrestleMania 22 thing was that he had been caught over-using prescription only fat-metabolisers. I knew about the marijuana thing, but this happened when they had the much lower punishment for the specific drug (a relatively small fine, without a write-up or suspension).

And that "already punished" for the signature thing is bullshit. The WWE is a publicly traded company that broadcasts around 10 hours of footage per week. If Orton had received ANY kind of disciplinary actionm there would be better evidence of it.

Phil said:
....... Orton still bores me.
This is just one of oh-so-many reasons why I don't understand why he is one of the top guys.

Because kids like him and he's a cash cow.

Granted, some of his matches are fun to watch, but most of the time he reminds me of Cena no.2.
